Happy Halloween from the Provost’s Office

It was truly a great event last night at the Free Speech Forum! If you were unable to join us, the video is below and it is worth the watch!

As we reflect on the 22nd anniversary of 9/11 today, the City of Jacksonville will hold a ceremony at Jacksonville Cemetery at noon in remembrance of Army Major Dwayne Williams, who was killed at the Pentagon. A Jacksonville native, Major Williams was the son of retired JSU employee Pearl Williams, who established a memorial scholarship on campus in his name. He would have been 62 today.

The university would also like to invite the community to two upcoming events focused on democracy and freedom. On September 15, national leaders in civics education will descend on campus for "Reflective Patriotism and Civic Friendship," 2-4 p.m., at Merrill Hall, Room B01. Then, on Oct. 3, top legal experts will visit campus for a Free Speech Forum, 6-8 p.m., on the 11th floor of Houston Cole Library.
