The Applied Learning Community is a popular Project Based Learning Program requiring parental involvement and continues to expand. Additionally on the elementary level, a STEM Initiative recently put into place brings another exciting choice for parents and students in JISD. West Side Elementary recently implemented the Leader in Me Program on campus. JISD also promotes Academic UIL on the elementary level, offers beginner band in the 6th grade. Secondary Education offers incredible diversity for all types of students. Upper level academics, Career & College Readiness, boys and girls athletics, fine arts, over 90 clubs, and burgeoning Career & Technical Education programs are offered on the JHS campus, and many of these on the JMS campus.
