A few great questions came in today:

What is the deadline for choosing how my child will return to school?

Duval HomeRoom enrollment is open from July 14-July 24

What kind of schedule will Kirby have for the upcoming school year?

Kirby-Smith will be on a 7 Period day. Students will have 7 daily classes

While running the hybrid schedule until Labor Day, which days will my child come to school?

The schedules depend on the grade level

Greetings Kirby Comets! I can hardly believe that we are about to start the last week of school for the 2019-2020 School Year! This will definitely be one for the history books and one that us nor our students will soon forget!

Thank you parents for your support and engagement this school year, we certainly would not have made it without you!

Personal Item Pickup

Students are required to return their borrowed materials starting May 27th. This includes all textbooks, library books and other borrowed items. During this time, students will also pick up items they left at the school, including personal items left in gym lockers. Please note that if you borrowed a computer or internet hot spot for online instruction during the school year, we will not be collecting those items at this time, except for students not returning to a DCPS school.

Parents must place a piece of paper with the child/children’s first and last name on the passenger side of the dashboard
The collection of materials will occur through a mobile collection process. Families will not be able to walk-in to pick up or return materials. Again, the process for picking up and delivering materials will be by vehicle only.
No walk-ups will be allowed (If you do not have a vehicle or if you are unable to come to the school at the designated time, please contact Ms. Velvet-Allen at [email protected] to make other arrangements)

My name is Gigi. These are my 2 Kirby students (past and present). For the last 4 years I have had the pleasure to be a Kirby Smith parent. I've been on the SAC, Athletic Boosters, PTSA and an overall volunteer. My time has come to an end but now Kirby needs YOU. The PTSA needs you. The SAC needs you. The Athletic Booster Club needs you. The sharing of the information on the grade level pages has been made possible by the PTSA volunteers (me for the last 2 years). If you can and will help, please email the PTSA at..... [email protected]
Or please email Principal Bush. Kirby Smith cannot thrive without volunteers like you. It's been a pleasure to serve you. Good luck to all in your future endeavors. I'll always be Kirby Strong!!

Last Day of School Update - Last week, we shared that the district was waiting on a decision from the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) regarding a waiver of required instructional hours due to districts extending Spring Break in response to COVID-19.

We learned today that FLDOE approved the waiver. This means, we will end as originally planned. May 29 is final day of the school year for students.
