Exciting news! The trip to join Jax State’s A Ca****la Choir for the 14th International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival in Germany opens for registration this Friday (August 14) at 3 PM!

Create a lifetime of memories as you travel to Vienna, Prague, Leipzig, and conclude in Wernigerode and attend the choir festival and competition. Trip fees include accommodations, airfare, group transportation, sightseeing activities, daily breakfast, choir performances, and a celebration meal with the A Ca****la Choir.

Phillip Tutor ('07, MA-History) has joined Auburn University's Samuel Ginn College of Engineering as a communications and marketing specialist. The long-time newspaper editor and writer in Alabama is an emeritus member of the University of Memphis Journalism Alumni Club Board of Directors who has previously worked for the University of Memphis, the University of West Alabama and the Emporia (Kansas) State University Foundation.

"I enrolled at JSU as a non-traditional student interested in advancing my journalism career through a master's degree in history that concentrated on civil rights and the American South. I've never regretted that decision. Covering politics and public policy in Alabama requires a nuanced and deep understanding of specific topics, and JSU's faculty provided that in magnificent detail. Though I now work in higher education at Auburn University, the knowledge I gained at JSU remains vital to my career as a communicator, writer and editor."

Jax State alumna Jennifer Swafford ('94 & '99) is serving students, families, and her community in Cleburne County. With degrees in early childhood education, elementary education, and school counseling, Swafford has served as the school counselor for Cleburne County Middle School in Heflin, Alabama, for more than 20 years.

She was awarded the 2025 Alabama School Counselor of the Year and continues to dedicate her time investing in students through mentoring, character education, peer leadership, community partnerships, and innovative school programs. Swafford said one of the most unique and meaningful additions to the counseling program has been the facility dog, Juice.

Jax State alumna Ashley Robinson ('10) strategically built her marketing agency, Green Cardigan Marketing, finding her niche after helping a friend who was a criminal defense lawyer. She saw a need for transparent digital marketing for lawyers, driven by data and customized marketing solutions.

"I began working with lawyers as a side hustle," Robinson said. "Law firms are in a very competitive market, and I recognized the need for transparency in the service I was offering."
