Why is the 1 mill back on the ballot this November?

The current 1-mill was approved by Duval County voters in 2022, and under Florida law, voters must consider its continuation every four years.

The 1 mill has helped support teacher compensation and efforts to recruit and retain qualified, certified educators. Since 2022, teacher vacancies have declined, teacher retention has increased, and Duval County Public Schools has become an A-rated district for two consecutive years.

As we approach the November election, we’ll be sharing factual information to help our school community understand what the 1 mill is, how the funding is used, and what voters will be asked to consider.

Morning arrival and afternoon dismissal are two of the busiest times on our school campuses.

Parents and guardians can help keep everyone safe by:

• Following established traffic patterns and designated drop-off/pick-up areas
• Avoiding distractions while driving
• Never stopping in undesignated areas to allow students to exit a vehicle
• Watching carefully for students, buses, bicycles, and pedestrians
• Following the directions of school staff and law enforcement

A few extra minutes of patience can make a big difference in keeping our students safe.

Eagles Continue to Soar Locally and Nationally!

The national rankings are in, and we're proud to share that Paxon has been recognized as the #2 school in Duval County and #25 in the State of Florida!

This recognition belongs to every member of our school community: our dedicated teachers and staff, hardworking students, supportive families, and engaged alumni. Your commitment to excellence continues to make Paxon a truly special place. While rankings don't define who we are, they do highlight the extraordinary work taking place every day in our classrooms and throughout our community.

We also congratulate the other DCPS schools who were recognized in the rankings:
-Stanton College Prep ( #1 Duval, #7 Florida)
-Wolfson ( #3 Duval, #26 Florida)
-Darnell-Cookman ( #4 Duval, #30 Florida)
-Douglas Anderson ( #5 Duval, #36 Florida)

At Paxon, excellence thrives! Way to go Eagles! Duval County Public Schools

Service in Action at Paxon!

Today, our incredible Paxon School for Advanced Studies students are demonstrating what it means to lead through service as part of our second "Year of Service" project.

By giving their time and talents to support our community, these young people continue to show that excellence extends beyond the classroom.

We're painting and serving until 12:00 PM today. If you're looking for an opportunity to make an impact, and you are ready to serve, connect, and paint- join us! At Paxon, we are preparing our students to become world citizens. Duval County Public Schools

Help Beautify Paxon!

We are pleased to announce we will soon begin our second project for our school community “Year of Service”. We have partnered with CISV Jacksonville to beautify the campus by adding murals! We need the Paxon community to show up!

This project will be completed in several phases with Phase 1 beginning with the outside of the Eagle wing and some of the sidewalk areas. Please join us on Saturday, August 15th from 8:30-12pm. There is no artistic talent required. As CISV has explained in the sign-up link, it is just like a big coloring book, you just paint within the lines😊. Duval County Public Schools

Paxon Eagles Are Ready to Soar!

A huge thank you to all of our students and families who joined us for orientation over the past two weeks! Together, we kicked off the school year with excitement, connection, and community spirit.

Students not only picked up the materials they need for a successful start, but also explored opportunities with colleges and universities, Paxon organizations, JPL, and our valued community partners.

We are especially proud of how our students and families embraced our Year of Service initiative, donating hundreds of school supplies to support a local elementary school. Your generosity is already making a difference!

The countdown is on—we can't wait to welcome everyone back to campus on August 10th for an amazing year of learning, leadership, and service. Duval County Public Schools
