Congratulations to all the students who were honored at the DCPS Dual Language and ESOL Awards this week! Our students shined in their performance of Wavin’ Flag! Thank you to Ms. Glass for directing our singers! Special congratulations to Principal McCormick for being awarded the Dual Language Education Leadership Award! What a beautiful night filled with celebration and joy! 🤩

Our third grade Wax Museum was definitely a highlight of the school year for us! The students did a great job researching a famous person, creating a display, dressing as their person, and presenting the information to parents and other students. 💃🏼Thank you to our amazing PTA for a Family Fiesta to remember! We enjoyed great weather and delicious food while taking in various performances including Flamenco and Mariachi!

We are so proud of our talented students who showcased their creativity and hard work at our Annual Art Show! The auditorium was filled with incredible artwork that reflects the imagination of our students.

As we close out Black History Month, West Riverside Elementary proudly celebrates the history, achievements, and lasting impact of Black leaders, innovators, and change makers who have shaped our nation and our world.

Throughout the month, our students engaged in meaningful lessons and conversations that honored resilience, excellence, and unity. Black history is American history, and the learning continues beyond February.

Thank you to our teachers, staff, students, and families for making this month impactful and memorable.

Last week we celebrated Literacy Week and our campus was full of readers, thinkers, and storytellers. From themed dress up days to engaging classroom activities, our students truly showed their love for reading.

We are so proud of the excitement, creativity, and joy our students brought to every moment. A huge thank you to our teachers and staff for making literacy come alive and to our families for always supporting a love of reading at home.
