We plan to build an enclosed arboretum at our farm and more NC crops, thank you! 💚💛🚜

The first day of school is here!

We’re excited to welcome our students, teachers, and staff back for an incredible 2026–2027 school year! As we kick off a new year, we’re looking forward to another year of hands-on learning, new opportunities, industry credentials, and helping students discover pathways that can turn their interests into careers.

Here’s to a year full of learning, creating, exploring, and preparing for the future!

The Eastern North Carolina Regional Skills Center recently hosted a two-day Career and Technical Education (CTE) Professional Development Collaborative, bringing together CTE educators from Onslow County Schools, Carteret County Public School System, and Craven County Schools. 🤝📚

The event kicked off with an engaging keynote presentation by Rodney Johnson, Jr., setting the stage for two days of collaboration, professional learning, and idea sharing. Teachers had the opportunity to connect with colleagues from neighboring districts, exchange best practices, and begin building cross-county learning cohorts that will continue to strengthen CTE instruction long after the event concludes.

By working together, these educators are expanding their professional networks, sharing innovative strategies, and strengthening career and technical education opportunities for students across Eastern North Carolina. 🌟🔧💡

A great week at the Eastern North Carolina Regional Skills Center Summer Experience 2026 for our rising 10th graders!

The Eastern Regional Skills Center’s week-long Summer Experience gave rising 10th-grade students from across the Onslow County School System an exciting opportunity to explore future careers through hands-on learning.
Throughout the week, students rotated through nine different career pathways, gaining real-world experience from industry-trained instructors. Culinary session students prepared lunches and baked treats, while Health Sciences sessions involved learing how to administer injections and properly use personal protective equipment. In Firefighter Technology sessions, students operated high-pressure fire hoses, and Welding session students stepped into the booth to create steel weld joints. Automotive Collision session students practiced repairing vehicle body damage through patching techniques.
Additional sessions allowed students to fly drones, operate automotive lifts, design video game elements, and program robots. Led by Eastern Regional Skills Center instructors and supported by OCS Career and Technical Education staff, the Summer Experience provided a dynamic and engaging introduction to the many career and technical education opportunities available at the Eastern North Carolina Regional Skills Center.
The week was filled with discovery and hands-on experiences designed to spark students’ interests and help them envision future career possibilities through attending the Eastern North Carolina Regional Skills Center. 🚒🔧🤖🍳🚁🩺

🍎 THEIR VOICES. THEIR JOURNEY. THEIR FUTURE. 🍎
This semester, we had the privilege of sitting across from some of the most remarkable young people we've ever met — our TAAP students at Swansboro High School. One by one, they walked into a room full of educators and CTE district leaders, sat down, and shared their stories. And one by one, they left us speechless. 💛
Through Teaching as a Profession I & II, and the TAAP Field Experience, our students don't just learn about teaching — they LIVE it.
This semester, TAAP students at Swansboro High School stepped into classrooms across multiple levels of education, where they taught lessons, worked one-on-one with students, participated in parent conferences, covered lunch duty, and so much more — all under the guidance of dedicated lead teachers.
But their TAAP teacher Mrs. Beninate took things a step further. She organized individual interviews with teams of educators and CTE district leaders, giving each TAAP student a chance to reflect on and share their experience.
What we witnessed was nothing short of extraordinary.
Every student who walked into that room showed us something remarkable — self-confidence, communication skills, maturity, empathy, and genuine character. They had gained insight into teaching, into parenting, and into what it means to show up for others every single day. Watching these young people grow right before our eyes was truly overwhelming — in the best possible way.
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Beninate for her passion and dedication, to our lead teachers for investing in the next generation, and most of all — to our TAAP students for inspiring ALL of us.
The future of education is in great hands. 🌟

What an incredible evening on Friday! Jacksonville High School hosted an amazing FFA banquet that showcased the outstanding achievements of their student members and celebrated the memories they've built throughout the year.

Highlights included a beautiful video slideshow capturing the FFA chapter's journey—from competitions to community service to unforgettable moments together. But the evening held a special honor: our amazing CTE Director, Will Laine, received the Honorary JHS FFA Chapter Award in recognition of his unwavering support and dedication to this outstanding program.
