First things first: take a deep breath. Your child WILL get there. And the most important thing you can do is follow their lead.
Here are a few gentle tips to make the process smoother for everyone:
Can your child stay dry for at least 1-2 hours? Do they know when they've gone or are about to go? Do they show interest in the bathroom? These are signs they may be ready!
Accidents happen. A lot. And that's completely normal. Instead of frustration, offer reassurance: "Oops! Let's try the potty next time." Kids learn through encouragement, not shame.
Bringing your child to the potty at regular times (after waking up, after meals, before bed) helps them develop awareness and consistency.
Give choices where you can. "Do you want the froggy potty or the big potty?" A little autonomy goes a long way.
A happy dance, a sticker chart, or a high five can be incredibly motivating for little ones. Celebrate effort, not just success!
Remember: every child is different.
Some are ready at 2, others closer to 3 or 4. There's no "right" timeline โ just YOUR child's timeline.
We're always here to support you through this stage!
