Marlene's passion for dance ignited at 14 when she began her classical training at the prestigious High School for Performing and Visual Arts in Houston. Since then, she has graced stages in Houston and New York City, spending over 15 years performing with small modern dance companies, appearing in off-Broadway musicals and site-specific operas, and lending her voice to various VoiceOver projects.
Alongside her thriving dance career, Marlene has dedicated herself to empowering the minds and bodies of students as a full-time Dance, Physical Education, Health, and College and career educator in various charter and public school systems. Her commitment to teaching extends beyond the classroom, as she also leads pop-up Gospel Dance + Tone classes online and in person and inspires others through indoor cycling, bounce, and barre group fitness.
Marlene's accolades speak volumes about her impact and influence. In 2022, she was recognized as one of Houston Chronicle's Top Fitness Pros, a testament to her dedication and leadership in the fitness community. Marlene holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and a Master of Arts in Dance Education from Hunter College.
