The Communication & Rhetorical Studies Program is thrilled to welcome Dr. Blessed Ngoe to Illinois College!

Dr. Ngoe specializes in intercultural communication, exploring how culture shapes the ways we connect, collaborate, and build community—locally and globally.

Originally from Cameroon, he brings a global perspective, a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Boulder, and teaching expertise in public speaking, culture, identity, and communication across differences.

Outside the classroom, Dr. Ngoe is active in the Global Bridges Initiative, enjoys music and poetry, and never turns down a strong cup of coffee! He’s always up for meaningful conversations about global issues or storytelling—so stop by and say hello!

The Department of Communication Arts is proud to close out our Graduate Spotlight Series—celebrating Illinois College’s 196th Commencement—with Kayla Piper!

Graduating with a double major in Organizational & Strategic Communication and Psychology, Kayla has distinguished herself through her outstanding academic achievement and deep engagement in the classroom. Her success across two disciplines reflects both her intellectual curiosity and her commitment to excellence.

A collaborative and dependable teammate, Kayla is also a confident leader who consistently steps up to guide group work with clarity and purpose.

We’re excited to share that Kayla is heading to Illinois State University, where she will pursue a Master’s degree in Communication and serve as a graduate teaching assistant. We know she’s just getting started—and we can’t wait to see what she does next.

As we continue to celebrate Illinois College’s 196th Commencement, we’re excited to shine a spotlight on Thomas Menke—a standout graduate who double-majored in Organizational & Strategic Communication and Sports Management, with a minor in Communication & Rhetorical Studies.

During his time at IC, Thomas developed a reputation for being conscientious, hardworking, and a natural leader. Whether he’s guiding team projects in his classes, making an impact across campus, or playing with heart on the soccer field, he truly leads with purpose—always lifting others up along the way.

A standout both inside and outside the classroom, Thomas now begins an exciting new chapter this fall as he pursues his M.S. in Sports Administration at Eastern Illinois University. We have no doubt he’ll continue to achieve great things and lead with excellence!
