Friday FUN with PreK Aftercare!

Pre-K 2 Science Experiment: Today we made sensory calm down bottles. We have been learning about the emotion of “Happy” so our friends decided our bottle needed to be yellow! Each friend added a bead to represent their place in our classroom family. We also added some glitter because we are shining stars, and some confetti to remind us to spread kindness like confetti. Once everyone added their beads, each friend got to shake our bottle and watch the calming effect. This was a great way to demonstrate how we can all work together as a family to create a happy and relaxing by classroom community.

Today PreK 3 explored anger and how our bodies react when we become upset through a fun science experiment called the Angry Volcano!

Our jar represented our bodies, and the warm water represented our brains. Each child took a turn adding baking soda while sharing something that can make them angry. We then added vinegar and watched our “angry volcano” erupt! We practiced two important ways to help calm our bodies when we feel angry: counting to 10 and taking slow, deep breaths.
