Attention 8th grade parents/guardians of athletes or future athletes ‼️ Free EKG screenings - May 19 - Click the link to register.

Beginning July 1, 2026, Florida students playing high school sports for the first time will be required to have an EKG screening.

This new requirement is part of the Second Chance Act, created in honor of Chance Gainer, a Florida student-athlete who passed away from sudden cardiac arrest while playing football.

To help families, Duval County Public Schools is partnering with Who We Play For to offer free heart screenings for students. Heart screenings can usually cost $50–$100, so this is a great opportunity for families to take advantage of.
