As we approach the Fall semester, we are missing our Spring graduates dearly.



We would like to take the time to congratulate our Spring 2026 graduates! You have grown so much in your time here at JaxState and we cannot wait to see what you do next! Go tell amazing stories!

If you didn't get a chance to see it last weekend, there is still time this weekend to see Theatre Tuscaloosa's production of 'Big Fish!'

One of our rising juniors, Eli Sims, is in this production and would love to see you at the show!

Even in the summer, our students work hard and play hard!

Montgomery Guild of Actors opens 'Romeo & Juliet' July 24th, with doors opening at 6:30pm.
Among the cast is our spring graduate, Alexis Stanfield, and our rising Junior, Sa'Mitra Hill!

Join us tomorrow, April 15, at 7:30pm in the Ward Theatre for our staged reading of Last Judgment at Nuremberg by Abby Mann, the powerful play done in conjunction with Jax State's activities around Holocaust Remembrance Day. The cast is made up of faculty from many disciplines at Jax State, making this a wonderful collaboration across the university. This powerful piece of theatre will challenge and inspire. After the performance, there will be a talkback with the director, Dr. Michael Boynton, and Dr. Rachel Weiser, assistant professor of history. Admission is free!

We're excited about our upcoming reading of Judgment at Nuremberg, a play reading that we're doing in conjunction with World Holocaust Day. Admission is free, and you'll be treated to a plethora of faculty bringing this important work to life. Join us!

Our film students are out making even more magic! Our local cupcake shop, The Mad Hatter, was kind enough to let some of our students film there, so in return, our cinematography students stopped by to film some commercial footage for them. Future cinematographers in the wild!

We have some fantastic film events this week! On Thursday, join us on the Ward Stage for an evening with film composer, Bobby Horton. Mr. Horton has worked extensively with documentarian Ken Burns, and you'll be thrilled with his stories and music as he performs at 5:30pm. Admission is free.
