Third Grade is full of Extreme Learning!

Mrs. Castaldo’s third grade class has been studying weather and climate this semester and recently dove in to the chapter they’ve been excited for: Extreme Weather! These adorable scholars-turned-meteorologists started the chapter study by reading about thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes then finished by creating their own hurricanes with puff paint.

Happy Labor Day, Covenant Family!

As we pause to take purposeful rest today, we also pause in gratitude for the many dedicated and diligent behind-the-scenes staff who daily model the values of selflessness, hard work, and commitment the faculty teach within our Covenant classrooms. They love Jesus and they put to action the challenge of Paul to the Colossians, "Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men." Their meaningful labor is done as an act of service and worship–and we are eternally grateful for each of them.

Upper School scholars in Mrs. Alexander’s Marine Biology class have been learning about small organisms that live in our oceans and rivers. This week they had the opportunity to collect water samples from Little Pottsburgh Creek and the pond on campus, comparing the different environments for fresh and brackish water. The next day, scholars were able to view the water samples under microscopes and see a variety of organisms that are common to the water.

Art and experimentation collided in the Resource Room when Mrs. Ivey’s Lower School artists learned about color theory this week. 🎨💙

Artists worked in groups to use the primary colors to mix and create every shade of the color wheel while discussing and identifying the Creator’s use of a majestic spectrum of color throughout the world around them.

“I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God's holy Word,” scholars join together in reciting the pledge each week.

The Word of God is at the heart of our school and our curriculum - it is the fabric of who we are. From preschool through the twelfth grade, our curriculum is taught from a biblical worldview. Bible is a core subject in every age and grade level, where scholars are taught to hide God’s Word in their hearts through memorization, study it as the primary source, and apply it to their lives. This intentional focus teaches them on what to place their affections: His Truth, His goodness, and His beauty.
