Young is an experienced, productive Doctor of Nursing Practice prepared Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist on a mission to promote the health and well-being of the nation. Dr. Young is a native Mississippian and has graduated from several schools of nursing throughout the course of her career: Mississippi Delta Community College (Associate Degree in Nur

sing), University of Mississippi Medical Center (Bachelor of Science in Nursing), Alcorn State University (Masters of Science in Nursing), and University of Alabama at Birmingham (Doctor of Nursing Practice). Dr. Young began practicing locally (Jackson, MS) as a family nurse practitioner in 2005 with a focus on primary care and wellness in addition to diabetes care and management. Dr. Young served as an assistant professor at Alcorn State University and associate professor and Director for Graduate Nursing Programs at Kentucky State University. She also served as the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer and associate professor at Frontier Nursing University. Dr. Young has committed her life to serving the people of this nation focusing on preventative care; family medicine; nursing education; and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in healthcare. Dr. Young’s goal is to provide safe, accessible, high quality healthcare services to all individuals across the life span. Dr. Young has lectured extensively locally, statewide, and nationally on the topics of diabetes and obesity prevention; nurse practitioner practice and education; and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Locally, Dr. Young has published articles in Jackson Free Press, Boom Jackson, and Jackson Advocate. She also have National publications. She is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Essentials Taskforce and a National Organization of Nurse Practitioners Faculties Board Member. Dr. Young has also coordinated and participated in countless community service events.

Greetings world! This year, I will be celebrating 25 years of service in the nursing profession: 5 years as a Registered Nurse, 20 as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Nurse Practitioner, 15 doctoral-prepared (Doctor of Nursing Practice), 14 Educator, 8 Entrepreneur, and so much more. Thank you God for gifting me with the 3-4 AM Adrenaline Rush where a great deal of my goals and aspirations come to life and other aspects of my life that allows me to be successful through your lens. Thanks to God, my nursing power has been limitless and surely will be moving to new levels this year. Please support my team and I on this new journey and my 25 years of continuous commitment, contribution, and greatness in the nursing profession.

Dr. Geraldine Q. Young is an experienced, productive doctoral-prepared Family Nurse Practitioner, Certified Diabetes Educator, National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties Leadership (NONPF) Fellow, and now, Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP). Dr. Young is on a mission to promote the health and well-being of all indivduals. Dr. Young is a native Mississippian and has graduated from several schools of nursing throughout the course of her career: Mississippi Delta Community College (Associate Degree in Nursing), University of Mississippi Medical Center (Bachelor of Science in Nursing), Alcorn State University (Masters of Science in Nursing), and University of Alabama at Birmingham (Doctor of Nursing Practice). Dr. Young began practicing locally (Jackson, MS) as a family nurse practitioner in 2005 with a focus on primary care and wellness in addition to diabetes care and management. Dr. Young also served as an assistant professor at Alcorn State University for 7 years. She is expanding this area of expertise to Kentucky State University as the Director for Graduate Nursing Programs and Associate Professor of Nursing, with plans of collaborating with fellow Mississippi colleagues to advance the nursing profession. Dr. Young has committed her life to serving the people of Mississippi and surrounding areas, focusing on preventative care, family medicine, and education. Dr. Young’s goal is to provide access to safe, affordable, high quality healthcare services to all individuals across the life span in addition to meeting the educational needs of students (e.g., clinical, research, etc.) and mentoring needs of fellow nursing professionals to ensure competency, essentially improving patient outcomes. Dr. Young believes in excellence when it comes to patient care and education. Dr. Young has lectured extensively on the topic of quality improvement, diabetes and obesity prevention. Locally, Dr. Young has published articles in Jackson Free Press, Boom Jackson, and Jackson Advocate. She has also published nationally in the Endocrinology Advisor and HelioFamilyMedicine.com. Dr. Young has also coordinated and participated in countless healthcare initiatives and community service events throughout Mississippi, the southeast region, and now Kentucky.
