Day One with Bolton Edwards ✅

🚀 We had a BLAST at STARBASE this week! 🚀

Two different groups from Gary Road Intermediate joined us for their first two Academy Days, and these cadets were busy exploring, engineering, and having FUN! 🔬🧪🚀

Here’s what they accomplished:
✨ Demonstrated Newton’s Laws of Motion
🥚 Engineered restraint systems to keep Colonel Eggbert safe on his shuttle mission
🔐 Used equivalent ratios to crack the code in a mystery scavenger hunt
💻 Learned how to use a CAD program to design for 3D printing
🌈 Discovered how density affects the stacking of liquids
🚀 Launched straw rockets, manipulating force and mass to investigate their effects on acceleration

These cadets jumped right into the STARBASE mission, and we loved watching them learn, collaborate, problem-solve, and put their engineering skills to work!

We can’t wait to welcome these cadets back for their next three Academy Days! 🌟

McWillie Elementary Day One ✅

McWillie cadets are off to a great start! They explored Newton's Laws with real-world applications, used measurement skills to carefully prep Col Eggbert for a successful launch, dived into the Engineering Design Process, and finished with sending Col Eggbert to the Moon. We are happy to report we had 3 safely land and only 1 wounded in action (expected to make a full recovery)!! ⚛

Oakdale Elementary Day One and Two ✅

These amazing cadets explored Newton's Laws of Motion, launched Col Eggbert to the moon, completed a math mission to find their "moon men", discovered the importance of Newton's 2nd Law, and engineered a 3D printed rocket fin. All in two days! We cannot wait to see what we will accomplish for our remaining days! 🚀

STARBASE Duluth and STARBASE St. Paul recently had the incredible opportunity to attend and present at two National STARBASE Conferences, held in Mississippi and Kansas. 🛫🪐

These conferences brought together STARBASE directors from across the country to collaborate, exchange ideas, and strengthen the STARBASE network.

Throughout both events, we shared best practices, discussed innovative approaches to STEM education, toured amazing facilities, and learned from the experiences of fellow programs and directors. We were honored to present alongside our peers and contribute to meaningful conversations that support the continued growth and success of STARBASE programs nationwide.

A huge thank you to the conference organizers and all the STARBASE leaders who shared their expertise and passion.

🚀 We are excited to bring new ideas and inspiration back to Minnesota as we continue our mission of engaging students through hands-on STEM learning!

Our 7th/8th grader CSI: Summer STEAM camp wrapped up last week. These kids were a blast to have! They took their mission seriously and figured out whodunnit! We had several repeat campers from last year and hope we get to see their faces again next year.
