πŸ“΅ OFF AND AWAY: Focused Today. Prepared for Tomorrow.πŸ§‘πŸ–€

Jackson Public Schools is committed to creating focused learning environments where students can be fully engaged throughout the school day.

Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Michigan law requires public school districts to implement a wireless communications device policy that prohibits student use of wireless communication devices during instructional time. Districts may also adopt additional restrictions.

In response to this requirement, JPS will implement our districtwide Off and Away expectations across elementary, middle, and high schools. Cell phones, earbuds, and headphones should be turned off and stored away from the first bell until dismissal, including during instructional time, hallways, and lunch.

Please review the flyer for school-specific information, contact numbers, exceptions, and additional details.

Thank you to our students, families, and staff for helping us reduce distractions and keep the focus on learning.

πŸ§‘πŸ–€ ALL IN FOR JPS! πŸ§‘πŸ–€

πŸ“΅ OFF AND AWAY is HERE and LOCKERS ARE BACK! πŸ§‘πŸ–€
Middle School at Parkside is committed to creating classrooms where students can stay focused, engaged, and prepared for success.
Beginning this school year, our Off and Away policy aligns with Michigan's new wireless communications device law and Jackson Public Schools' expectations. Cell phones and earbuds/headphones must be powered off and stored in student lockers during the school day, including classrooms, hallways, and lunch. All students will be assigned a locker. Attached you will find instructions on how to open a combination lock and our Off and Away announcment flyer. We encourage those with locks at home to have students practice their skills at home and to review the "Off and Away" expectations outlined.
We appreciate our families' partnership in reinforcing these expectations. Together, we can minimize distractions and maximize learning
