Several biology students took their last opportunity to earn bonus points last week by presenting “Fibonacci series” in botany projects. Lia traced the spirals on a pinecone and found that they followed the Lucas number pattern instead of the Fibonacci series, Michael, Michelle and Rebecca all created spirals using the Fibonacci series. It took four or five of us just to spread out Michelle’s spiral ! They did a fantastic job!!!

Geometry students enjoyed going outside to put their math skills to work! They used clinometers along with trigonometry to measure the height of various objects.

Language Arts students in 10th-12th grade completed their novel study over Night, written by Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel. To conclude their unit, students designed and created a unique, personalized butterfly.
The project comes from a book of children’s poetry and artwork from the Terezin ghetto called I Never Saw Another Butterfly. More than 12,000 children under the age of 15 passed through the Terezin Concentration Camp (between the years 1942 and 1944.) Of these, more than 90 percent perished during the Holocaust. Students created these butterflies to visually represent these precious lives lost during the Holocaust.
