As Jackson High School prepares to celebrate 100 years in 2027, we’re inviting our alumni and JHS community to help us mark this incredible milestone by investing in the next generation of Vikings.

Our goal is simple: 100 alumni giving $100 to support the JHS Centennial Scholarship Fund. Every contribution will help provide scholarships to JHS/JPHS students, which will be awarded at the Ambassador Dinner.

Whether you graduated last year or decades ago, this is an opportunity to honor the school, the people, and the experiences that helped shape generations of Vikings.

Thank you to everyone that came out for Donuts with Grown-Ups this morning! 🍩🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 It was a huge success and we loved seeing our families get to kick off the school day together. 🧡🖤

We are so excited to announce that Calvena Mahoney was chosen by audition to perform in the ensemble with Sutton Foster (the famous Broadway actress) at the Wharton Center on October 3rd.

40 total students were selected from the entire state to be a part of this ensemble. We are so incredibly proud of Calvena and excited for her to have this amazing opportunity.

Calvena has been a member of the JHS choirs since her freshman year and has earned frequent honors for her singing. She has earned top marks at music theater solo and ensemble and classical solo and ensemble every year and was selected for last year's All-State Jazz honors choir.

Hispanic Heritage Spotlight: Dr. Ellen Ochoa 🚀

Today, we’re celebrating a trailblazer in science, engineering, and space exploration!

In 1993, Dr. Ellen Ochoa became the first Hispanic woman to travel to space when she flew aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery.

Before becoming an astronaut, Dr. Ochoa was an engineer and researcher. She later went on to become the first Hispanic director of NASA’s Johnson Space Center, helping lead one of the nation’s most important centers for human spaceflight.

Her story is a powerful example of where curiosity, education, perseverance, and big dreams can lead.

✨ During Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate people like Dr. Ochoa whose achievements continue to inspire future generations.

We are excited to announce that all 4 of our students that auditioned for the MSVMA (choir) music theater intensive were accepted. They will join 96 other students from around the state who were accepted to participate in this opportunity. These students will work with music theater professionals and participate in clinics, they will also have the opportunity to compete to perform as a soloist.

We are so proud of JHS choir students, Oscar Curtis, Adein Kelley, Calvena Mahoney, Mason Valdivia.

From JHS Choir teacher, Mr. YuhaszPratt:

“These students were so nervous and emailed back and forth with me many times with their audition videos as we worked on improving all the minor details. It was such a pleasure to get to call them to inform them of their success, they were all so excited! I am SO PROUD of these students.”

Wellness Wednesday Is Back At Hunt Elementary! 🧡

🥦 Grades 3–5: Students learned about MyPlate and talked about simple changes they can make to their meals. We focused on small, realistic choices—like choosing white milk instead of chocolate milk and finding ways to add more fruits and vegetables. 🥛

📚 Grades K–2: We read The Color Monster and talked about identifying and understanding our feelings. Students explored different emotions and how we can recognize and manage them. 🌈💛

Mr. French and Mrs. Hoppe are excited for another year of helping out students work on making our minds and bodies better! 💪🏻🧠

In honor of Constitution Day, Mrs. Norman’s class became authors of their very own constitutions during Social Studies. 📝

Students learned about the purpose of the U.S. Constitution and discussed how rules, rights, and responsibilities help communities work together. Then, each student created their own constitution, deciding what they felt was important to include.

It was a fun, hands-on way to connect history to their own lives while learning more about the document that helped shape our country. 🇺🇸

Our kindergarten students are working hard in PE —moving, exercising, and having a whole lot of fun! They’re building healthy habits while learning that being active can be fun! Way to go, kindergarten! 🧡🖤

For Patriot Day on September 11, our 5th graders worked together on a special Social Studies project with Mrs. Reardon.

Each student created one individual piece of a larger poster. On its own, each piece was unique, but when all of the pieces were put together, they became one beautiful collaboration — a great reminder of what can happen when everyone contributes to something bigger than themselves.

Both Mrs. Norman’s class and Mrs. Reardon’s class created their own Patriot Day posters, which are now proudly displayed outside our classroom doors.

We are so proud of the thought, effort, and teamwork our students put into honoring Patriot Day and remembering September 11. ❤️🤍💙
