Campers in kindergarten through eighth grade got their hands wet and their creativity flowing at Paper Makers Camp, learning the art of turning recycled paper into brand new sheets decorated with flowers, colorful dyes, and one-of-a-kind designs. Campers left with handmade paper transformed into cards, bookmarks, and art projects they made entirely from scratch. It is the kind of hands-on experience that makes summer at Jackson Academy unlike anything else.

In May, Jackson Academy celebrated linebacker TJ White with a banner unveiling ceremony, recognizing him as the 2025 Gatorade Mississippi Football Player of the Year, the first football player in school history to earn the distinction. White was a key defensive leader for a Jackson Academy squad that finished 11-1 and captured the MAIS 4A-DI State Championship, earning a spot in the 2026 U.S. Navy All-American Bowl along the way. White and teammate Dereon Albert also made history as the first Jackson Academy players ever named to the Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozen. His banner joins that of junior Carson Caraway, who earned the Gatorade Mississippi Volleyball Player of the Year award earlier this school year, making Jackson Academy one of the rare programs in the state to produce two Gatorade Players of the Year in the same school year. The pair represent the 11th and 12th times a JA athlete has claimed a Gatorade Mississippi Player of the Year honor, a testament to the standard of excellence that defines athletics at Jackson Academy. White signed with the University of Tennessee in December, where he will continue his football career at the SEC level.

The first week of camps were a huge success, and we kicked them off with Lady Raider Volleyball camp! The Lady Raiders opened up the gym this week, giving young volleyball players a few days of skill work, teamwork, and game-like competition led by JA's own players and coaches. From passing and serving to setting, hitting, and blocking, campers got hands-on instruction and the kind of experience that only comes from learning the game the right way. Whether they stepped in as a beginner or came in with some court time already, every player left a little better than when they arrived.

On the occasion of her 50th year of teaching and retirement, students in Dee Ball's Advanced Placement classes celebrated their teacher by showing up wearing wigs styled to match her signature look. The Head of School joined in the tribute by ordering a special cake for the occasion.
The lighthearted reception was a fitting acknowledgement of a teacher who has shaped generations of students, both at JA since 1989 and across five decades in the classroom. Her students made sure she knew just how much she will be missed, and remembered.
