Students' creativity is fostered and appreciated, and learning is exploratory and fun! The Montessori method emphasizes learning through all five senses. Children in Montessori classes learn at their own pace and according to their own choice of activities. Learning is an exciting process of discovery which leads to self-discipline, concentration, motivation, and an enduring love of learning. JPS Montessori offers the Young Fives program, affording children an extra year to gain confidence, academic, social and emotional skills, independence, problem solving skills, and fine/gross motor development. The Primary Curriculum (5 to 6 years of age) focuses on readiness, socialization skills and provides varied levels of exposure to academics that prepares each child for their educational journey. The Elementary Curriculum (6 to 10 years of age) combines 1st through 5th grades in multi-age classrooms. Hands-on math, science, and language arts are the cornerstones of the innovative and comprehensive Montessori Method. The academic curriculum also aligns with Michigan State standards and frameworks. Spanish language and integrated cultural studies, including history and geography, promote global awareness and 21st century skills. STEAM and P.E. classes are also part of our specials program.
