I think I remember a setting where you could determine the length of the cool down period between shots, but now I can’t find it. Anyone know where I can find it?
Millsaps College Mathematics Department
The department supports two majors: Mathematics and Applied Mathematics.
The mathematics department at Millsaps College provides a curriculum designed to fulfill the needs and interests of any student that wishes to pursue mathematics. Whether your goals are to pursue graduate school, to find a career in industry or government, or simply to develop your analytical skills to their highest potential, the mathematics department is ready to provide you with the mathematical experiences you need.
The pigenhole principle and multicolor Ramsey numbers For integers $k,r\geq 2$, the diagonal Ramsey number $R_r(k)$ is the minimum $N\in\mathbb{N}$ such that every $r$-coloring of the edges of a complete graph on $N$ vertices yields on a monochromatic subgraph on $k$ vertices. Here we make a careful effort of extracting explicit upper bounds for $R_r(k...

Accepted! The results from the Millsaps math summer research program have been accepted for publication. They will appear in Involve. Find the article on the arxiv https://arxiv.org/abs/1911.08067.
Congratulations Vajresh Balaji, Olivia Edwards, Anne Marie Loftin, Solomon Mcharo, Lo Phillips, Bineyam Tsegaye, and Dr. Alex Rice! An amazing achievement!

Math still isn’t done y’all. And Alex Rice gives the most simultaneously engaging and accessible math talks I’ve ever heard in my life. Bar. None.
Math students presenting the incredible fruits of their summer labor at the Beta Beta Beta research symposium this afternoon. I walked away impressed with Alex and the students but also reminded why math is the best discipline. It can make perfect sense to call a polygon a circle! A special congratulations to Anne Marie Loftin who took second place in the oral presentation!
Another paper from this summer’s research with Millsaps math majors is on the arxiv!
Lattice Configurations Determining Few Distances We begin by revisiting a paper of Erdős and Fishburn, which posed the following question: given $k\in \mathbb{N}$, what is the maximum number of points in a plane that determine at most $k$ distinct distances, and can such optimal configurations be classified? We rigorously verify claims made in re...
The first of two papers from this summer’s research program is on the arxiv. Great work by Millsaps math majors!
Sets in $\mathbb{R}^d$ determining $k$ taxicab distances We address an analog of a problem introduced by Erdős and Fishburn, itself an inverse formulation of the famous Erdős distance problem, in which the usual Euclidean distance is replaced with the metric induced by the $\ell^1$-norm, commonly referred to as the $\textit{taxicab metric}$. Specificall...
