There has been concern about dead deer around the Grand River. This is due to EHD disease.

The viral disease has been confirmed in Branch, Ingham, Jackson and Lenawee counties, with the DNR encouraging residents to report sick or dead deer online

What can you do at home to help keep the Grand River clean? We had the opportunity to discuss "Seven Steps" with visitors to the The Dahlem Environmental Education Center's Birds, Blooms and Butterflies event this Saturday. Keeping only rain to the drain will help protect the life in the river!

Also, mark your calendars for a FREE NATIVE PLANT INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP - BirtleBee owner Jennifer Shirk, MS, MSW, will facilitate a 60-minute workshop on August 22 from 12 - 1 PM at the Grand River Farmers Market! During this workshop, Jennifer will give an overview of the benefits of planting native plants and how to get started.
