As the final week of summer break approaches, we cant wait to see our students and their families at open house this thursday. We will give a brief overview of PTO to our upcoming Pre-K and Kinder students before camp begins and we will have a PTO table set up for open house. Please do not feel like we are going to pressure you in anyway when you stop by our table. We are always looking for members and volunteers, but this does not mean you have to commit to anything. Remember, we are also parents and we understand how everyone's availability is different. Come learn about what PTO does and how we are looking to fill the gap for our students and staff. We are excited for a new start to the 23/24 school year. See you Thursday!

I spy with my little eye, a few new guests at Jackson Elementary School. After checking out some loud bird screeching (making sure there wasn't a bird in distress), it turns out their mom wasn't feeding them fast enough. Please do not go digging in the bushes to find them. We don't want to stress out momma, and the Holly bushes are pretty sharp. Summers almost here!

We are working hard to get things done, our playgrounds ready for so much fun. With all of the support from penny wars and other pto events, we have started to bring new exciting things to the playground. We have finally have a contractor to begin the process of the prek playground structure after months and months of searching. We tried to think outside the box items for both the kids that love to run around but also for the kids who's interests include drawing/coloring and chalk play. Our storage bins and new playhouse will be here on Wednesday. As soon as we can secure our new toys, we will bring them outside for our kiddos to enjoy. If anyone has any availability next week (Thurs or later on), we would love a hand building the playhouse. We are really excited to offer a new beginning to our future face-lift of the playground. Thank you for your support. We are always in need of donations, both gently used or new to add to our lineup. If our families have a minute, please share this with our kiddos as they aren't behind the scenes knowing what is to come. We will be reminding our students that in order to have these exciting things available, they have to work together to clean up and return the toys they used but to also be cautious of not intentionally kicking balls or throwing balls over the fence. If they are not returned, they won't be available for the next kiddos who have recess.

Just a reminder, today is the deadline to order field day shirts. Please make sure you have the correct grade level as they are color coded. Errors in ordering the wrong size or wrong class color will not result in remakes or refunds. We hope everyone has had a wonderful spring break. The Pre-k / Kindergarten penny wars winners will be announced during school when students return. The PTO will set out to find the best of the best popsicles for our winners. The outpouring support was well above what we expected. We will be posting updates on our plans to use the funds raised for outdoor toys/items. We will also be posting upcoming information for teacher appreciation week, the 5th grade send-off celebration, as well as end of the year events. We hope everyone has enjoyed their week off and we want to wish all of our JES families and staff a wonderful Easter this Sunday.

We are working on increasing our social media to provide updates, resources and increase family involvement.
Fun Rainy Day Activity:

Playdough ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup salt
4 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 cups lukewarm water
2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil (coconut oil works too)
Food coloring, optional
Quart sized bags
Stir together the flour, salt and cream of tartar in a large pot. Next add the water and oil. If you’re only making one color, add in the the color (optional) now as well. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Continue stirring until the dough has thickened and begins to form into a ball. Remove from heat and then place inside a gallon sized bag or onto wax paper. Allow to cool slightly and then knead until smooth. If you’re adding colors after, divide the dough into balls (for how many colors you want) and then add the dough into the quart sized bags. Start with about 5 drops of color and add more to brighten it. Knead the dough, while inside the bag so it doesn’t stain your hands. Once it’s all mixed together you’re ready to PLAY.

We have a winner! Pre-k / Kindergarten came in ready to win! We had over 120.00 in Bill donations alone today for the first place winner. That, plus some sneak attacks and honestly, some serious mud thrown at 4th, it was not how PTO predicted it would end. 4th grade today had a total of $225.35 of mud (silver) thrown at them today alone. We had a blast and we loved seeing all of our students insight on how to take the lead and how to take the daily leaders down. Best part of this fundraiser was how much money was raised. Together we brought in a total of $1,729.13. This is proof that every penny counts. A huge thank you to everyone who donated, who shared our fundraiser, and everyone involved. Ameris Bank in Jackson was amazing with all of our transactions as well as our rambunctious kiddos who tagged along. We will definitely do this one in the future. Just a reminder, we are almost done with our Penny War fundraiser. We will be set up on the far side from car line today collecting last minute donations. Stay in your car and pull all the way over so we can keep the line moving, and so we can all stay safe. All money collected in car line will go to the class you choose. Silver included. It will be kept separate from the school change drops. We have had such a fun time with this and the kids seem to love it. Thank you for all of your support. Keeping your donations in our school benefits us so much more than selling material items to make a percentage back. The popsicle party will happen after break and rest assured, we will be making sure to get the good ones. We will be working hard this afternoon and we will have final numbers posted. We will be able to share our grand total of donations too. VENMO SNEAK ATTACKS WILL CLOSE AT 4PM. any donations will be followed up with a message that it is closed and refunds can be given if the donor wishes. Thank you again. Thursday Results are in! Ignore the Tuesday standings. It's actually Thursdays!

*GAME CHANGER* PTO will be set up past the corner of car line. We will continue to collect coins until car line is over. ALERT: We will come to you, Do not get out of the car. We want this to be fun but we cannot do this extra mix up if it jeopardizes anyone's safety, including ours. Pull over to the side so traffic can continue to move. Park where parents pull over to buckle smaller children in. ALL COINS COLLECTED WILL BE A POSITIVE TO THE GRADE LEVEL. THIS WILL BE SEPARATE FROM OUR SCHOOL DAY CHANGE, SILVER INCLUDED. We have also been using 1.00 coins as a positive to the grade but have not labeled it on the graph. Also, we had many rejected coins so if you notice bills not counted in 100s this is why. Be cautious of how you strategize, 3rd is pretty far into the negative but they may be holding out, we do not know. We have a total of 135.00 in venmo sneak attacks. Remember, you can write this off for taxes. Contact us for a receipt. Hit up the family, your friends, and businesses can even use this as a write off. We are very happy with the results and remember, 100 percent of donations go directly to JES Students and staff. Be ready for a crazy Friday.

Wednesday results are in. 4th grade came to win today. We had a wonderful check donation, a 20 dollar bill, a 5 and ones on top of their pennies. We are halfway done. Who will end up on top? Remember sneak attacks are a wonderful way to secretly take the advantage. Again, if you would like a receipt for a tax deduction, please let us know. Your support is beyond appreciated and the kids are having a blast. It is a wonderful educational too as well. Counting, strategizing, and planning help to take the lead. We love emptying the bins and thank you to Ameris Bank in Jackson for waiving all of the coin fees. We will see who is going to throw mud tom and who is going to be the Thursday Leader. First graders came out strong today. They brought in a total of $53.14 in + donations (bills and pennies). The opposing teams however threw so much mud (silver coins) that it knocked them back to - 671 points. This is key to not holding your silver until the end because you never know how another grade level is going to change things up to either make them the advantage or send some mud flying to knock down the leaders. Bill totals are based on cent totals (100 bills is equal to 1.00 or 100 cents) We do have some sneak attacks that will be withheld from totals until we finalize each grade level. One of the donations is a strong donation and we appreciate it so much. Remember all of your donations will be used to purchase non-structural items for the playground such as balls, chaulk, and similar items. All donations are tax deductible as we are a registered non-profit. Please reach out for a receipt if you would like to write your donation off. Strategize and be ready for Wednesday's battle!
