The Fall Festival is coming—and we can’t wait to do this again. 🍂🎨

These photos are from last year’s festival, when artists stepped outside the gallery to create, demonstrate their craft, and visit with people throughout the day.

There’s something special about seeing art being made right in front of you.

Watching hands shape clay on a pottery wheel. Seeing a piece of wood transformed on a lathe. Catching a glimpse of a painting as it comes together. And, best of all, getting to talk with the people who create the art you see inside our gallery.

This year’s Fall Festival is coming up on Saturday Oct. 17th from 10 am to 2 pm, and Art in the Village will be part of the fun again!

If you’ve been curious about the gallery but haven’t stopped in yet, festival day is a wonderful time to visit. Come meet local artists, explore the gallery, ask questions, and discover the incredible variety of art being created right here in our community.

You don’t have to “know about art” to enjoy it. Just come see what catches your eye. 💛

Sometimes the sweetest moments at Art in the Village happen when we least expect them. ❤️

This adorable little visitor stopped in and discovered that our gallery has more than paintings, pottery and handmade art—we have stories, too!

We currently have two children’s books created by our own Art in the Village members, and apparently they’re just right for an impromptu story time. 📚

We love seeing art and creativity shared with the next generation—and we think this might be one of our favorite gallery visits yet.

There’s so much more behind a finished piece of pottery than what you see on the gallery shelf.

Jennifer Hatch will be back at Art in the Village this Sunday, and it’s a great chance to stop in, visit with her, and talk about her work and process.

Jennifer is currently setting up a new studio space, which also means testing new clays and learning how each one behaves—from forming and carving to drying, firing and finishing. It’s a time-consuming process of testing and refining long before a ceramic artist is ready to offer a finished piece for sale.

And when you see the beautiful light and shadows created by Jennifer’s hand-carved work, you begin to understand why all that experimenting matters.

Come by Sunday, see her work in person, and ask Jennifer about what’s happening behind the scenes in her new studio.

They came in looking for paintings. They left with paintings—and a friend. ❤️

Several weeks ago, Bill and Teresa stopped by Art in the Village looking for two paintings for their home.

They had spaces on either side of their TV they wanted to fill, but after looking through the gallery, they couldn’t find a pair that felt quite right.

That’s when our co-founder and artist Mary Spellings told them, “We can create something especially for you.”

They talked. They looked through Bill and Teresa’s photos. And eventually, the perfect subject emerged: their favorite spot to drink coffee and have conversations together.

Mary turned that meaningful little piece of their life into two 18x24 original watercolors.

When Bill and Teresa came to pick them up, Bill told Mary:

“We came in here looking for paintings, but not only did we get the paintings we love, but we also got a friend.”

And that’s what we love about art.

Sometimes you’re choosing something beautiful for an empty wall. But sometimes, in the process, you find a way to preserve a place, a memory, or a part of your life that matters to you.

And every once in a while, you find a new friend, too.

Introducing our September Featured Artist, Jan Sessions 🎨

Jan didn’t begin painting until she was 62.

What started as a new creative outlet became a source of joy, relaxation, and connection. Today, her paintings celebrate familiar scenes—country landscapes, animals, beaches, birds, barns, and changing seasons.

Jan says she wants her paintings “to bring happiness and enjoyment to other people.”
