The Jackson City School District will conduct a state-mandated full-scale emergency management drill on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at approximately 9 a.m. at Jackson High School.
The district is required by law to complete a full-scale emergency preparedness exercise every three years. This year's drill will simulate tornado-related damage to the high school building and may include scenarios involving emergency medical response.
While the primary exercise will take place at Jackson High School, all other district buildings will participate by conducting a tornado drill and sheltering in place during the scheduled time.
Residents may notice an increased presence of law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and other emergency responders at both Jackson High School and Jackson Middle School during the exercise.
Jackson City Schools Superintendent Phil Howard emphasize that this activity is only a drill and is part of ongoing efforts to ensure student and staff safety in the event of a real emergency.
The district appreciates the cooperation and understanding of students, families, staff, and community members as it carries out this important safety training exercise.
