We're so blessed with some of the best children, families & teachers!
Montessori looks different for each child. Sometimes it’s:
1. Fine motor practice when you're a gross motor champion.
2. Mastering a spoon when you're under 2!
3. A Rube Goldberg device you've designed at 4.
4. Learning to stand on your own at 10 months!
5. Pulling up at 7 months!
6. Practicing your body parts at 1.
7. and a successful snuggly nap on your first day.

It all starts with connection, and a group of people who work hard together for the common goal of success for the child.

Connection before Correction.

Before we can help a child work through big feelings or challenging moments, they need to know they are safe, seen, and loved.

Connection builds trust. Trust creates the ability to correct.

This week, we wrapped up our summer FREGGIES program by exploring the avocado!

Our children talked how avocados grow, discussed textures, and tasted both fresh avocado and guacamole! Some loved it right away, while others weren't quite sure... 🥑

One of the most important things we teach is that trying new foods isn't a one time thing. Research shows that children need to be offered a new food several times before they begin to enjoy its taste, texture, or smell. Every time they try it, it builds confidence and helps create healthy eating habits that can last a lifetime.

Our FREGGIES friends aren't the only ones that participate in meal times! This week our infants and toddlers had pretzels with hummus for snack, giving them another opportunity to experience a new flavor and texture. They're such good eaters and will try anything!

We're so proud of all of our school family for being willing to taste, learn, and grow this summer! 🍎

At Little Samaritan Montessori Center, we're excited to be part of the FREGGIES (Fresh Fruits & Vegetables) program!

FREGGIES is a fun program that introduces children to a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables through tasting experiences, engaging activities, and interactive lessons. Our goal is to help children build healthy eating habits, explore new foods, and develop a lifelong appreciation for fresh, nutritious choices.

This wonderful opportunity is made possible through the collaboration of Midtown Partners, Farm to Community, and Excel By 5, who are working together to connect children with fresh, locally sourced produce while supporting healthy communities.

We can't wait to share photos and reels from our FREGGIES adventures. Be sure to follow along as our little learners taste, explore, and grow this summer!
