Save the date for the Jackson Band Festival - Tuesday, October 6!

For the 82nd year, the Jackson Marching Band Festival Parade is bringing music, energy, and school spirit to the streets of uptown Jackson!

Tuesday, October 6
Parade begins at 4:00 p.m.
Field Show at 6:00 p.m.

Parade Info:
Starting at Jackson High School and heading north and west through uptown Jackson
Get ready as more than a dozen marching bands from across Southeast Missouri fill the streets with powerful performances, colorful uniforms, and plenty of school spirit — all building to a grand finale performance by the Jackson High School Marching Chiefs!
Traffic Alert from the City of Jackson: Portions of South High Street and West Main Street will be closed for approximately one hour during the parade. Please plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time.

Field Show Info:
The field show starts at 6:00 p.m. at The Pit! Tickets will be sold at the gate.

Listen to bands from Chaffee, Cape Central, Fredericktown, Oran, Oak Ridge, Scott City, Perryville, St. Vincent de Paul (Perryville), Woodland, Meadow Heights, and Puxico, and YOUR JHS MARCHING CHIEFS!

Jackson R-2 Foundation All-Class Reunion Tailgate

Join the Jackson R-2 School District Foundation and friends for a FREE community tailgate on the Trail of Honor before the September 25 Hall of Fame football game.

The tailgate will take place on the Trail of Honor from 5:00 - 6:45. Stop by and enjoy free food provided by community sponsors as well as a visit from the JHS Cheerleaders and Spirit Dancers and listen to the JHS Marching Chiefs!

Congratulations to Jackson High School student Emma Pylate, recipient of the 2026 Cape Girardeau Better Business Bureau Student Ethics Award. Emma earned a $2,500 scholarship for her winning essay. The BBB recognized her at the Torch Awards luncheon today.

Ribbon Cutting for Jackson Indian Stadium Grand Reopening (Rescheduled Date)

A ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand reopening of Jackson Indian Stadium on Deerwood Drive will take place on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., before the home softball game against Poplar Bluff. This date was rescheduled due to a heat advisory at the beginning of September. The game will be immediately following the ceremony.

Today, a group of Jackson High School students had the opportunity to attend the “Women in Business: At the Heart of It All” conference, hosted by the Cape Chamber of Commerce.

Thanks to the generous support of local businesses, students were able to participate in meaningful networking opportunities, connect with professionals, and hear from a panel of CEOs representing a variety of industries.

Experiences like these help students explore career possibilities, build confidence, and see the many opportunities available to them beyond the classroom.

We are grateful to the local businesses who invested in our students and their futures.
