We had a great time at Northwest Rankin High School last week! 💙

Representatives from SHRP’s Health Sciences, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Radiologic Sciences departments enjoyed spending time with NWR’s Health Science classes and sharing more about our programs, careers in the health professions, and the many opportunities available through the UMMC School of Health Related Professions.

We loved the opportunity to connect with these students, answer their questions, and hopefully inspire some future healthcare professionals along the way!

Thank you to Mrs. Sumrall for inviting us and giving us the opportunity to share all that SHRP has to offer.

SHRP welcomes our newest faculty member, Dr. Brenda Jeng, Assistant Professor in Physical Therapy and the Move Center.

After completing her PhD in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, she pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Illinois Chicago. Dr. Jeng chose Kinesiology to learn what the human body can accomplish in ideal (and less-than-ideal) conditions. Her prior experience involved working at a land- and aquatic-based therapeutic exercise center adapted for individuals with disabilities (e.g., stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and spinal cord injury), which initiated her interest in conducting research to promote physical activity in clinical populations.

Dr. Jeng advises students to never stop learning, as we are all lifelong students.
