This wonderful event happened in March, but we're just a little late posting photos to our page. Our good friend Igor Iwanek of Mindful Sound Experience led us in exercises that incorporated breathing exercises, as well as sound yoga. Igor primarily led us in breathing exercises that can be incorporated into all of our, especially stressed college students', lives.
M3 will be back in action with weekly meditation sessions in August under the leadership of Saihou Ceesay. Watch out for future workshops, and meditation sessions!

: M3 began through a few of the founding members' exposure to mindfulness meditation through Dr. Golden's Philosophy of Happiness course. Millsaps alum Jeremy Obach first organized an on campus meditation event with special guest Bebe Wolfe in the Spring of 2015. M3 founding members Kelsey & McAulay then invited Bebe back in 2017. Eventually M3 was formed, and we have had the honor & privilege to collaborate with other local Jackson community members. We want to acknowledge and thank them for their kindness & service! Thank you Bebe Wolf (owner of Wolfe Studio & mediation dojo), Dr. Igor Iwanek who has taught us several sound- related mindfulness skills & breathing exercises, Kate Woodley for leading us in mindfulness tool kit workshops from a clinical perspective, and our new friends at Fitness Plus for teaching us the connection between Tai Chi and health! We would also like to express gratitude to our faculty sponsor Dr. Anita DeRouen for helping us become official this year, as well as to Dr. Lola Williamson & Dr. Kristen Brown Golden for introducing meditation & mindfulness practices in the classroom setting. We are so grateful for you all!
M3 will be changing leadership in the Fall, with our founding members having graduated this month. But rest assured, our new president Saihou Cessay will continue to organize weekly meditations, and campus events! Thank you to everyone who helped M3 grow & expand this year! We are a resource FOR YOU, and are grateful to have made a splash on campus!

Last week we had the pleasure of taking part in an intro level Tai Chi class thanks to our friends at the phenomenal new fitness center, Fitness Plus! We had a great crowd and a ton of fun! It was an honor to have Lisa & Marty (our Tai Chi instructors) join us here at Millsaps!

Yesterday was our one year anniversary of being an "official student organization" with the name M3, and we are so grateful to have been received so well by the campus community, especially ongoing support from faculty. Thank you especially to Dr. Anita DeRouen for her leadership as our sponsor, and for kicking us off one year ago with this beautiful pebble meditation!

Join us for a new style of meditation tonight at 7pm in Franklin Lobby! "Total Relaxation" is a meditation in the Plum Village tradition that involves laying down and sending gratitude and mindfulness to different parts of the body. You might want to bring a blanket, but remember we have cushions!
