Unfortunately, we need to postpone the planned Bunsen to Beaker date for the distribution of t-shirts and awards.

We had planned it for this weekend (April 4th), but given the extension of social distancing guidelines from public health, it is too soon to do this. We hope to reschedule it for sometime in the month of May, but for now, will need to wait and see before setting a new date.

If you would still like to run/walk the Bunsen route, we have extended the deadline to submit your time to us until April 30th. We have received a few times from people. Continue to do this if you'd like and we will keep track and then use these times when we eventually do the awards. Submit your finish time to [email protected]

Thanks for your patience and stay safe out there.

Dear Bunsen to Beaker Participants and Volunteers,

After much consideration and consultation, we are “reformatting” the 33rd Annual Bunsen to Beaker 5K walk/ run. Until now, our attitude has matched the postal services’; "Neither snow nor rain nor heat...” would interfere with race operations. And many of you have run this race in rain and wind and heat. This year, with the cancellation of Dandelion Days, we are choosing to deviate from our traditional race format. In addition to concern over COVID-19, we are worried about finish line safety with the streets not being cordoned off.
Instead, this year we challenge participants to run the course anytime between March 14 and April 1 and submit your finish time to [email protected].

Winners will be announced via email and on our Bunsen to Beaker page on April 2. Participants can pick up their awards and T-shirts on Saturday, April 4 at 9 am at the Jackson Elementary playground. If you prefer other arrangements for picking up your award and/ or T-shirt, please reach out at [email protected].

We very much appreciate your flexibility in this unprecedented time.
Sincerely,
Dan and Sinead Klement

Many thanks to all that made this year's Bunsen to Beaker fun run/ walk a success! First, thanks to Mother Nature for the blue, cloudless skies. Thanks to all that came out to run/ walk. Last year, this race followed a snow day. We appreciate all of you who continue to make this an annual tradition as well as all of you who came out for the very first time! Many thanks to our volunteers that woke up early on their first day of Spring Break to help out with logistics- Linda Daly, Lisa Carney, Karen McCrory, Joanne Rutherford, Aaron Greenberg, Erik Lucas, Michaelynn Angie, Shannon Clark, Paula Cahill, Paul Cahill, Vivian Flock, and Rosemary Bergson! Lastly, thanks to all our sponsors that help give our students more access to hands-on science materials in our Jackson schools!

As of now, there is only a 10% chance of rain for the race! It just may be a perfect day for a run.
