This morning, our school joined thousands of others across the nation for See You at the Pole®, a global day of student-led prayer and reflection that began in 1990 with a small group of Texas teenagers. What started as a simple gathering has now grown into an annual event observed by millions of students around the world.
Our students, teachers, parents and friends met at the flagpole to lift up our school in a positive, prayerful way — asking for peace, health, and wellness in our community. Several students took on speaking roles, which was especially meaningful since many of them are usually hesitant about public speaking. Their confidence, leadership, and willingness to share their voices made the morning a powerful experience for everyone present. We followed the experience by sharing breakfast and fellowship - a special thank you to all of the parents who helped us with this event!
Our Biology and Life Science students had the privilege of learning from a special guest speaker, Reagan Wilson, BSN, RN. Reagan has worked as a Medical ICU nurse and now serves as a Cardiovascular ICU nurse at UMMC.
She shared her expertise on the respiratory and circulatory systems, connecting classroom learning to real-world medical practice. With an engaging PowerPoint presentation and hands-on visuals, Reagan made complex concepts come alive for our students.
The students truly enjoyed the opportunity to ask questions, explore medical topics, and gain insight from someone working on the frontlines of healthcare. We are so grateful to Reagan for taking the time to inspire the next generation of scientists and healthcare professionals!
