It may sound like a matter of course, but during your training you will undergo various social and personal experiences. Not all of them will be fun. On the contrary, trying, sad, aggravating, or boring things are more common. That is exactly why Sôke is preaching a method whereby anyone can learn together and urge each other on enjoyably, without forgetting the most important point, the soul of the martial arts. No matter how often you tell them, those who are stubborn, who lack a cooperative nature, who want to be No. 1, or who have too strong a desire to maintain their egos, will not be able to understand this martial art.
The "nin" of ninjutsu can also be interpreted as the "nin" of ninshiki (awareness). Sôke says that true courage is being aware of everything, and then going beyond this. If this is lacking, then no matter how many techniques you know you will make mistaken decisions. If you just try and think things out yourself, there'll often be mistakes. This applies even more to those still undergoing training. Making mistakes is unavoidable. If you think you are mistaken, then correct it. If you practice again correctly, then that's all you need. This also needs courage. It takes time, natural time until you can understand Budô. And those who can't endure the many years are no different from those who don't understand culture, art, and human nature.

Perfecting a martial art is not an easy path,” says Hatsumi, casting his mind back over his own long journey. “I have come as far as I have in this life out of my one great desire, to help lead other people to know the true ninjutsu, to know the true martial arts. It’s been fifty years since I first opened this dōjō, and at last I’ve been able to train and raise successors from all over the world. I’m just content that I have been able to pass on the true essence of martial arts. All I want now is for my deshi around the world to continue to learn and grow into outstanding people who can earn the respect of all.”

“If all you are is uke ( receiver ) for your training life and survive, you have succeeded as a martial artist”
Nagato Sensei
People believe that the only way to prove yourself as a martial artist is to be strong, fast, have fantastic skills and win fights. However, the martial artist is not someone that seeks out violence. If you are able to understand the depth of ukemi and the meaning of ninniku yoroi ( to bear no grudges or desire for revenge ) one can control the space to avoid unnecessary conflict as much as possible.
The ultimate goal of studying Budô is to live ones life in a way that peace is attained without the need for fighting.

“Violence is to be avoided, and Ninpô is Bujutsu”. Use the sword to be peaceful, and protect country, family, and nature”.

Many fail due to their inability to relinquish enough pride to become a student and endure the lessons transmitted via blood, sweat and tears.
Budô is hard. Quite simply, if one is unable to pursue the heart of the martial artist, the teachings will ultimately fall on deaf ears and be fruitless.
"Budô is not like modern technology. You need to put your heart in it. If you don't have a spirit of understanding and sacrifice, it means you're not yet prepared to enter the Dōjō.
Those who complain and rumor are the scum that dirty this place."
