This is a rare opportunity to let your voice and experience with city wide services be heard and have impact on the way Jackson moves forward.

“The change and improvements Jackson wants to see are found in our collective voice and those closest to the issue are most qualified to offer suggestions to address the issue. Show up Jackson, we need to hear from you.” ~ Kesha Hamilton, Chair of Racial Equity Commission

Happy New Year Diverse Minds Community! 🎉🎆

2024 was a beautiful conference that began with a pleasant surprise - myself and Kenisha C**n being featured on the badges and registration desks.

I volunteered this year so I took in the conference differently. I absolutely enjoyed checking folks in at registration, supporting presenters before their sessions, being a town crier to guide attendees and making initial connections with the other volunteers.

I also had time to engage in some deep and inspiring conversations with some of the ladies from Jackson, experience acupuncture, take in an amazing Jazz show with Tony Tatum and meet new people as we enjoyed our evening together.

Excited to see what we create, bolster and thrive in as we utilize the tools, inspiration and ideas Jackson is bringing back from this conference.

Incredibly grateful to have been honored at the Jackson County Branch NAACP #3142 83rd Freedom Fund Banquet on last night with their Henry Grayson Community Service Award.

I’m grateful to my community for rocking with me, holding my arms up, showing up when needed and recognizing the importance of the work of Kesha R. Hamilton, a woman committed to disrupting systems of oppression and establishing systems of equity, inclusion, diversity and anti-racism.

The latter does not happen without the former. And the former, disruption, by its very nature isn’t polite - but they’re necessary when we are committed to change that transforms for the better.

Thank you, Alicia Williams, and Jackson NAACP - I’m honored and encouraged to continue advocating and representing. ❤️💚🖤

She says, "The work that racial equity requires is slow, intentional, but steady." According to Hamilton, some efforts have been updating policies through the racial equity lense and eliminating assessments in the MLK Corridor.

Grateful to share at the Michigan Community Action Summer Conference themed ‘Lighting The Way’.

We discussed ‘Getting Beyond Performative DEI’ and ‘Microagressions in the Workplace’ with engaged and full audiences.

It’s necessary to illuminate ourselves as we commit to lighting the way for others.

Our trainings do that in informative, discussion style, insightful and humorous ways.
