If we’re not careful, we’ll wake up one day to realize our schedules are full of things that only drain us, and nothing that is a priority to us.
The beautiful thing about it is you can do something to change that! You can create a rhythm around things that matter to you, and begin to live an intentional life.
1. Decide What Matters.
This is the step where you get to sit down and make a list of what matters most to you in THIS season of your life. In other seasons, it will most likely change, ebb and flow. But right now, in the seasons you’re currently in, what matters most to you?
This is not where we compare ourselves to others, or choose what we “think” should matter.
But when you get quiet with the Holy Spirit, what do you sense coming to the surface that matters to you right now?
2. Let Something Go.
Say “no” to something that doesn’t matter to you in this season! You can’t do it all - and you weren’t meant to.
After you decide what matters most, then you can decide what you can let go of, or loosen your grip on.
This could be something in your house that really doesn’t matter right now, because other things are needing to take priority.
-Like allowing your kid to vacuum, even though they don’t do it as good as you would 😉
-Saying “no” to an extra activity that your kid is begging you to do, because there’s no margin for it in this season.
-Allowing some cleaning you’d normally always do not get done in this season (remember, it’s only for a season! Not forever - it’ll all be ok 😉)
3. Simplify One Thing.
What’s one thing you do every day that you could create a rhythm around? Deciding once will help take away some of the mental fatigue we feel with all the decisions we need to make in a day.
-Wear the same outfit every Monday.
-Before you leave to drop your kids off at school everyday you throw in 1 load of wash.
Things like that :)
