Alvin Edney has been appointed Executive Director of Child Nutrition for Jackson Public Schools, where he provides leadership and oversight for all districtwide nutrition operations.

He brings more than 20 years of experience in food safety, public health, and program administration, with a strong focus on ensuring students have access to safe, nutritious meals that support health and learning.

Previously, he served as Director of Child Nutrition for the district and held leadership roles with the Mississippi Department of Education and the Mississippi State Department of Health, overseeing compliance, inspections, and statewide nutrition programs.

Summer Feeding has started and we are eating good in the neighborhood!!!!!!!

The Child Nutrition Department of the Jackson Public School District will be offering its Summer Feeding Program for the 34th year. We invite children ages 0-18 to come join us!

Meals must be consumed on-site.
Summer Feed Dates: June 1, 2026- June 30, 2026
Breakfast serving times 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Lunch Serving times 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Bates Elementary School, Blackburn Laboratory Middle School - JPS, Callaway High School, Cardozo Middle School, Casey Elementary School, Forest Hill High School - JPS, Galloway Elementary School, Kirksey Middle School,
