The 98th Texas FFA State Convention is well under way! Our students have been busy serving as voting delegates, sitting through workshops, business sessions and attending the kick off concert with Aaron Watson these past few days.

Most notably though would have to be the 5 seniors that received their Lone Star FFA Degree. This is the highest degree an FFA member can receive at the state level. Their hard work and dedication to their FFA careers is highlighted with this award.

Lone Star Recipients are Maggie Sewell, Jaycie Christian, Garrison Johnson, Jaci Robinson, and Kylie Johnson.

We are so proud of their accomplishments!

It’s that time of year! We have tickets available for this year’s Jack County Youth Fair annual Showdown! Funds raised during the Showdown go directly back to the youth of Jack County and help the organization put on the Youth Fair in Jack County, which has been a staple event in this county for decades. Tickets are $125 apiece, which enters you in a drawing for a $20,000 vehicle voucher to James Wood Motors. Each ticket also admits 2 people into the showdown for the dinner and activities of the evening. This year’s Showdown will be Saturday, August 8th at 6 PM at Jacksboro High School. Contact an ag teacher or fair board member to get your ticket, but hurry there’s only 300 available and they won’t last long.

Over the past few days, one of our very own represented us at the Texas FFA State Prepared Public Speaking Contest. Kylie Johnson competed yesterday in the Ag Policy Division, earning 2nd place and securing her spot in today’s finals.

Today, Kylie competed among the top 12 speakers in the state and finished 10th overall in the Texas FFA Senior Prepared Public Speaking Division. Her countless hours of studying, preparation, and dedication to perfecting both her speech and responses truly paid off.

We are incredibly proud of Kylie and all she has accomplished!

Today was a GREAT day to be a Tiger as we traveled to MSU for Area IV Convention. Our students served as voting delegates and participated in workshops. Garrison Johnson was named Most Valuable Judger for Wildlife. Mace Mower (Livestock Evaluation), Brayden Rockey (Meats Evaluation), Josh Salazar (Poultry Evaluation), Weston Mitchell and Aydan Perez (Ag Mech) were named to the All Area Judging Team. Kylie Johnson wrapped up her year of service as an Area Officer as well as competed in the prepared public speaking contest. She walked away winning her Ag Policy Division and punched her ticket to the State Contest at the end of the month. We also ended the day with news that Jaycie Christian and Kylie Johnson were selected to serve as Junior Ambassadors for Texas FFA Convention this summer! We are proud of everything our students have accomplished this year!
