Today I received a stack of persuasive letters from one of our 2nd grade classes. Their assignment was to write to the principal and try to convince me of something.

There were a lot of strong arguments in those letters, but this one stood out.

The student made a great case for having ice cream every day for lunch — pointing out that everyone loves it, it has milk so it will make us stronger, and it will make students happy.

But the part that really caught my attention was the ending:

“In conclusion ice cream would be a popular and fun snack to have every day… or else we will bang on your door at night.”

I had to choose this one to share. I appreciate the creativity and determination from our 2nd grade writers. I’m still reviewing the proposal… but I may also start locking my doors at night. 😄

Thankful for this group and their protection of our students!

I really enjoyed this article highlighting the nation’s top teachers this year. A big takeaway for me was how much they lean into community and real-world connections.

Teachers: what’s one way you connect learning to students’ lives or your local community?

This year's top teachers bring their communities into the classroom, and vice versa.

I appreciate articles that try to cut through the noise and focus on tools teachers might actually use.

What’s one tech tool you wouldn’t want to teach without right now?
And what’s one you tried and quickly moved on from?

Caplan: I've tested more than 200 Ed Tech services this year. Here are the most useful for teaching.

AI isn’t the point. Teachers are.

What I like about this article is the reminder that when teachers are supported and trained well, tools like AI can help with planning and workload without taking away professional judgment.

But there's still a big number of teachers who don't plan to use the technology.

Principals and school leaders are constantly learning, too — from instructional strategies to supporting teachers through change. Lifelong learning matters.

Hint: It's not all about AI.

By the end of the week, leadership isn’t about what got crossed off the list—it’s about whether people felt supported and students were served well.
That’s the work.

Great teaching starts with conditions that help students learn. As educators, it’s on us to build environments where every learner feels confident and capable.

Education continues to change rapidly. From AI to enrollment shifts and privacy concerns, leaders are adapting and responding with clarity for students’ benefit.

Enrollment concerns, growing school choice competition, data privacy and new federal policy priorities are among a slew of challenges facing public schools.
