The Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

This summer, Bro. Zion Singleton (A-SP26-3) is working as a Software Engineering Intern at MathWorks in Natick, MA, gaining hands-on experience with the engineering software tools relied on by industries worldwide. Living in Boston has also let him indulge his love of history, with the city’s rich past right outside.

This summer, Bro. Jacob Green (A-SP26-2) served as a Human Resources Analyst Fellow in the New York City Metropolitan area at JPMorganChase, where he worked alongside Interns, Vice Presidents, and Executive Directors to support strategic talent initiatives. Within the Learning and Development Team, he contributed to the creation of training modules, gathered and analyzed data, and measured outcomes to help improve employee efficiency and organizational performance.

Over the course of five weeks, he also developed and presented an AI Aide tool to the JPMorganChase Head of Human Resources and Operating Committee, designed to support employees throughout the hiring process by automating role information directly to recruiters based on company data. Through this experience, he demonstrated innovation, initiative, and a strong ability to translate emerging technology into practical business solutions that enhance productivity and firm-wide effectiveness.

This summer, Bro. Elliot Rosa (A-SP26-1) dedicated himself to promoting civic engagement, environmental responsibility, and social innovation through service and professional development. He volunteered with D9 Harlem Votes™ during the BOOTS ON THE GROUND campaign alongside Alumni Bro. Shaw (A-FA21-1), where he helped Harlem residents become engaged politically by assisting individuals in completing their Voter Registration Forms and providing materials for voting, polling, and mail-in ballots.

Through the Summer Youth Employment Program, he contributed to the maintenance and stewardship of more than 10 parks across Harlem and the Bronx. He also completed a six-week Advanced Entrepreneurship Program, where he developed a health and wellness app, created a business model and branding strategy, explored intellectual property protection, and refined his entrepreneurial pitch.

Brothers Henderson and Faez spent quality time serving as tour guides this past weekend with Brothers from Epsilon Eta (Eastern Michigan University) and Theta Zeta Lambda Chapters. These brothers were conducting their Brotherhood Pilgrimage at the House of Alpha Leadership Institute.

Throughout their time here, the Brothers visited historical landmarks essential to our Fraternity, had fellowship during dinners, and exchanged the rich history and tradition among our respective Chapters.

This experience, which was made possible through the Alpha Light Fund, Inc and graciously hosted by Bro. Dr. Ryan Goldsberry (A-FA’87-1) who gave us the opportunity to strengthen our Fraternal bonds while appreciating the legacy our Founding Jewels laid out for us and ensure we continue to inspire future generations of Brothers.

The Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, Alpha Chapter, were honored to attend the portrait unveiling for Bro. Dr. Roscoe C. Giles at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City.

Bro. Dr. Giles was one of the second initiates of Alpha Chapter in October 1907. He embodied true servant leadership within our organization through his service as our first General Treasurer, second General President and a key advocate who helped create our “Go-to-High School, Go-to-College” National Program.

He was also a prominent leader in the Black community as he broke racial barriers in medicine. He was the first Black graduate of Cornell University Medical College, where, despite being asked to leave and receiving multiple death threats, he earned his degree in 1915. He also became the first Black person to be certified by the American Board of Surgery and served as president of the National Medical Association. At only 27 years old, Bro. Dr. Giles was appointed by Chicago Mayor William Hale Thompson to be the supervisor of the Chicago Health Department becoming the first Black person in the country to hold such a position.

The Brothers of the Almighty Alpha Chapter are proud to call Bro. Dr. Giles one our own, and we are grateful to witness his commemoration at Weill Cornell Medicine.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, Alpha Chapter, proudly celebrates Bro. Elliot Rosa (A-SP26-1) on his successful graduation from the 26th class of the Alpha Leadership Academy - The 43 Standard-Bearers, at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

While at the academy, Bro. Rosa was recognized as the Academy Brother with the highest application score, earning an outstanding 99 out of 100. He gained leadership skills from the various immersive workshops, where he interacted with remarkable leaders of the Fraternity. Bro. Rosa also took part in community service at Montecello Elementary School and visited several significant institutions that embody Alpha’s legacy: Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated General Headquarters; Capitol Hill; Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial; Amazon’s HQ2; and the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Bro. Rosa is honored to have proudly represented the Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, NYACOA, and the Eastern Region at the Alpha Leadership Academy XXVI.
