American Association of Adventure Playgrounds

American Association of Adventure Playgrounds that's right: we're back! The American Adventure Playground Renaissance is happening!! Basically, a way we can all work together to keep the movement going! YEAH!

Back in the 1970's there was an "American Association of Adventure Playgrounds" and things were moving and grooving...then things slowed down and the organization stopped. A few amazing Adventure Playgrounds continued blazing the way and carrying the American Adventure Playground torch and lo and behold Adventure Playgrounds are beginning to pop up again in the good ol' USA. Because of this we thought it would be great to bring the association back somehow and celebrate the new adventure playground "renaissance" currently underway. And also as a way for all of us doing this to share stories, resources, research, questions, concerns. (and help others to start doing AP's in their own ways big and small) We're probably all dealing with similar "challenging" issues (liability, risk, playwork self reflection, funding + sustainability, etc.) as well as discovering great new ways to support children's free play. So, basically, it's a way to create a "buddy system" for AP's! And to share pictures. Maybe host a conference someday.
