Put Road Stream Crossing Data to Work in Your Community

In this free webinar, speakers will share data and maps to visualize where road stream crossings have been assessed so far and discuss municipal planning for structure replacement in the Hudson Valley. The shared data will include recommended crossing dimensions, current crossing capacity, estimated jurisdiction, available studies (e.g., FEMA/HEC-RAS), and more.

The intersection of roads and streams poses unique challenges to both human infrastructure and wildlife connectivity. There are approximately 20,000 road stream crossings the Hudson River Estuary watershed. The DEC Hudson River Estuary Program, the Cornell Water Resources Institute (WRI), and partners have been working together to assess the stormwater and wildlife passage functions of many of these crossings. The Estuary Program and WRI invite community members to attend an informational webinar on Wednesday, May 27 to learn more about assessment efforts and opportunities to apply road stream crossing data at the local level.
