Our South Elementary Junior Jackets had a special visit from some of our local Gratiot Emergency Services Authority (G.E.S.A.) Firefighters early this week. Firefighters talked with students about fire safety, demonstrated how to use their fire equipment, and gave students the opportunity to look inside their fire trucks. We are thankful for these community helpers that serve and protect our local families.

Our students loved having the high school football players and cheerleaders visit during recess this week! The excitement, smiles, and of course, trading cards they brought with them made it such a special experience for all!

We are so proud to see these former South Elementary students serving as role models for our Junior Jackets and showing what it means to be part of a school community!

Thank you to our high school friends for taking the time to stop by and spread some Homecoming spirit! Go Jackets! 💙🐝💛

Today was an extra-special day at South Elementary as our students and staff dressed up as their favorite real-life heroes! From firefighters and police officers to doctors, nurses, teachers, military members, and so many others, our halls were filled with courage, kindness, and inspiration.

It was wonderful to see our students recognize the people who work hard every day to help, protect, teach, and care for others. Most importantly, we were all reminded that heroes come in many forms—and each of us has the power to make a difference.

A huge thank-you to all the real-life heroes in our community for the incredible example you set for our students! 💛💙

Today students dressed as community helpers as part of our Homecoming celebration. This Junior Jacket decided to dress like Mr. Hessbrook, one of our custodians at South. Good choice!! We have the BEST custodians in our building. Thank you, Mr. Larry and Mr. Hessbrook for keeping our school squeaky clean! Go Jackets!! 💙💛🐝
