Staying over break? Us too! The Womyn's Center will close Thursday and Friday (November 26-7). But we will be open 7-11 Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday of Thanksgiving break! If you have anything checked out but need to leave for break please return it during our open hours the next time you are available. Happy Thanksgiving!

Tonight! Come watch "She's the Man" in the unit 3 lounge to celebrate the Womyn's Center's opening! The movie will start at 7:30, and you can be the first to check out the Center's collection of DVDs, games, and cookware!

Hello Balch!

The Womyn's Center has closed for the summer. Thank you all for a wonderful year! Before you stop thinking about school altogether, please join us in recognizing our final Woman of the Month: Leeann Habben. Leeann has spent the last two years as manager of the Center. In her time she has worked to plan new events, add more cooking supplies, and make the Center better for everyone in Balch. Although she has a bright future ahead of her as a graduating senior, she will be missed as a member of the Balch community.

When asked for advice about moving on with your memories from Balch Leeann said,

"The best advice that I can give to Balchies as they prepare to enter their Sophomore year is to stay focused and maintain your drive. There is still a lot of your Cornell time left and as a graduating Senior I’ll be the first to tell you that it is going to start to fly by from here on. If you haven’t yet explored the many clubs and activities that this amazing campus has to offer, there is still time to do so! Continue to push yourself outside of your comfort zone and meet new people, try new things, and explore new places – especially all of the amazing places and things to see right here in Ithaca! You all have got the lay of the land as freshman, and now it’s time to make this campus your own."

Please join us in congratulating the March Womyn’s Center Woman of the Month, Ashley Zheng! As co-president of the Society of Women Engineers, Ms. Zheng exemplifies the idea of balancing success in the classroom with community engagement at Cornell. In addition to studying Operation’s Research and Information Engineering, Ashley Zheng has studied abroad in the UK and taken an internship at Barclays Investment Bank. In her role as Co-President of the Society of Women Engineers, she helps promote gender equality in important STEM careers.

The Society of Women Engineers is a great example of career-related and issue based community involvement. Look for these types of opportunities to help enrich your study here at Cornell, and keep an eye out for our next Woman of the Month!

The Balch Womyn's Center is proud to announce our first ever Woman of the Month: Erika Whitestone!

Each month, the WC will be highlighting a Junior or Senior student at Cornell who has made a significant impact on campus. As president of Panhellenic and a highly involved figure on campus, Erika truly exemplifies community engagement, inclusiveness, academic success, and balance.

Game night tonight at 8! Come down to the Womyn's Center to play Cards Against Humanity or another game with us!

The Balch Womyn's Center is now open! A membership to the center allows you to check out DVDs from our huge DVD library, DVD players and HDMI cords, cooking and baking equipment, and even sporting equipment and games.

We will also be hosting some events this year including WEEKLY movie and game nights every Saturday!

If you don't already have one, but want one, memberships are $10 for the entire year, and can be purchased at the Womyn's Center.
