Chamber music is such a great opportunity for our advanced students to flex their musical muscles in a slightly different way than orchestral playing, honing their communication skills and developing their own musical voice.

We had three groups work together to learn these iconic pieces this spring, attend coachings with ISME faculty and celebrate with a dedicated performance in Hockett Recital hall.

We are extremely excited to announce that two new teachers will be joining ISME’S faculty!

Dr. Eugenio Figueroa will be joining us as a new violin and viola faculty member. Passionate about the viola, Dr. Figueroa will lead and grow our viola program at ISME. He will also be taking on the leadership of the Sebastian Strings orchestra. Eugenio has a Doctoral degree in viola performance as well as a Master’s in Suzuki Pedagogy from the Hartt school, and a Bachelor’s in viola and music education from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico. He brings extensive performing and teaching experience to Ithaca and we are so thrilled that he will be joining us.

Cellist Bianca d’Avila do Prado will also be joining the ISME cello faculty this fall! Bianca is a cellist, composer, and educator with extensive performing and teaching experience. She holds two Master’s degrees in cello performance and string pedagogy from Illinois State University, a Bachelor’s in cello performance from the University of Santa Maria, Brazil, has extensive individual Suzuki teacher training through all 10 books, and is a co-author of the book Resonance: A Multicultural Cello Method, which contains many wonderful pieces already familiar to our ISME cellists. She’ll work together with Zach so that we can expand our cello program to exciting new horizons.

Please help us in welcoming Eugenio and Bianca into our ISME community! We can’t wait to begin this new chapter together.

We're hosting Music Together demo classes at the DRYDEN CENTER FOR COMMUNITY throughout the summer. These events are free and open to the public!

This class is a Mixed-Age music class, for children from birth through age 5 and the grownups who love them! All our classes are active music-making experiences, designed to teach the way children learn.
