I am so THANKFUL to have the opportunity to work with such wonderful students! This year a record number of people (500) will be served a free Thanksgiving meal provided by the Community Cafe'. Our North student council helped,in part, by making cookies for dessert.

Our student council members gave a special Halloween treat to some senior citizens today by raking their yards. Even work can be fun! Between this and trick or treating tonight they are going to be tuckered right out!

This group of North student council members has been working hard recycling and selling snacks to fund our community service projects this year. If you see these kiddos give them a big high 5!

Attention parents: We are now accepting applications for our holiday adopt-a-family program which is funded by the Gratiot County Community Foundation. The red or green half sheet application went home in Friday folders with your children. Only one form needs to be completed per family. Please get those to the school by Oct. 24th for full consideration. Thank you!

Many thanks go out to this amazing group of CMU students who volunteered their time today to lead our 4th grade students in team building activities. The kids had an opportunity to put their Ithaca P.R.I.D.E. to use while they cooperated and problem solved. The icing on the cake is that they had a BALL doing it!

A huge thank you going out to Ric's food center in Ithaca on their 40th anniversary celebration today. They donated hotdogs, beverages, and chips for our elementary schools PTA to sell today. Thank you to all who came out and bought a hotdog to support our schools! Thank you also to all the parents who brought their kiddos over to work our stand! ❤️ our community!

Here is a video of Special Olympics highlights. Notice the last medal presentation clip- the athlete took a light blue pony stuffed animal to the podium to receive his medal. So cool! Even more cool is that I watched him choose that stuffed animal with a huge smile on his face...as if he had found gold! Start putting away your stuffed animal donations for next year's collection! Maybe even pick a few up at garage sales this summer😀

Here are some photos of our stuffed animals being given away to the Michigan Special Olympic athletes at last night's carnival. Our Ithaca elementary students are responsible for bringing smiles to many faces! Thank you all for donating!

Student Council's "Caring for Kids" project has come full circle. The students learned how to write a grant, which they were awarded by the Gratiot County Community Foundation. They painted designs on 48 canvas bags, and then stuffed them with toys, coloring books and other activities to give to children staying in the hospital. Today we delivered the bags to Mid Michigan Medical Center in Alma. Great kids and a great project!
