We are very pleased to have new funding from NSF and the National Science Council of Taiwan for a collaborative project between our lab and Dr. Hao-Chuan Wang's lab at NTHU. We will be working on ways to facilitate communication across speakers of different native languages.

Another highlight from this summer: Lab member Duyen (Mary) Nguyen defended her thesis (a year early!) and is headed to CMU for an exciting postdoc with Sara Kiesler and Laura Dabbish. Her dissertation looks at conversational involvement in intercultural CMC. Ivy Huang provided the celebratory artwork.

This summer, students Ivy Huang and Hsing Lin Tsai joined us from Hao-Chuan Wang's lab at National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. They collaborated with Cornell students Tina Yuan and Bin Xu on studies of multilingual communication. We're sad to see them go but hope they enjoy the sweatshirts!
