This past weekend, delegates at CIAC helped raise more than $1100 for the Zambia Community Education Initiative! This group works to build modern secondary schools in rural communities in Zambia. With a combination of Jar Wars donations (shoutout to the Pokémon committee for getting the most donations!) and Cookiegram sales, we were able to make a large donation to this important cause. Thank you, delegates!

For our next committee spotlight, we are excited to introduce you to our JCC, Nigerian Civil War! The crisis director will be Akosa, and the chairs will be Alice and Khadija- swipe through to learn more about them!
———————————
Seven years after independence, and the Nation is in disarray. As a result of haphazard drawing of national boundaries, Nigeria was truly 3 tribal nations in one. The Hausa and Hausa-Fulani in the North, the Yoruba in the South, and Igbo in the East. The Igbos and the Hausa Fulani had been engaged in skirmishes for years due to severe differences between the two tribes. Finally, war has begun between the two nations, Igbos has attempted to secede and declare their own nation, Biafra, and hundreds of thousands of Nigerians have been displaced. Acting on behalf of either Biafra or Nigeria, you job is to either establish Biafra as a self sufficient nation and fully declare independence from Nigeria, or to stop the Igbos from seceding and reunite the nation.

Delegates, there is less than a week until CIAC XIII, and we couldn’t be more excited! We will be introducing you to the rest of our committees this week. Today, we are featuring Ender’s Game, crisis directed by Chase and chaired by Asher.
—————————————
It is the final days of the Third Formic War, as Battle School prodigy Ender Wiggin and his crew journey across the stars to engage with the Formic home planet. Despite the coming victory, however, the mood back on Earth is tense. The threat of the alien Formic invasion was the only thing keeping the factions of mankind at peace, and victory in the stars may mean war at home, as the international defensive alliance known as the Hegemony is in danger of breaking down. Currently, the officials of the Hegemony and its allied organizations, such as the International Fleet, are fighting to keep global cooperation alive, but many others are fighting just as hard to tear it down, hoping the end of the one-world government will bring progress. At the same time, back up in the stars, the outcome of the Third Formic War is far from set in stone: some advocate for Ender to drive the Formics to extinction, while others advocate a more peaceful solution, and a few parties want to keep the war going altogether.
Emissaries from the International Fleet, the Battle School, Ender's Jeesh, and the many other organizations of Earth must come together to find a stable solution in this tumultuous time… or compete to profit off the chaos of the coming days.

For our next committee spotlight, we we are focusing on Roosevelt’s War Cabinet, CDed by Mimi and chaired by Eddie!
—————————————
It's December 7, 1941. The Japanese have just bombed the U.S. military base in Pearl Harbor. With American lives endangered, the U.S. must decide its involvement in this next great war. Delegates will represent President Roosevelt, his cabinet members, other prominent U.S. politicians, as well as journalists and activists in their effort to confront the axis powers. Will they succeed or will the world succumb to Adolf Hitler's reign of terror?

Next, we want to introduce you to one of our two Specialized Committees: China Two Sessions Meeting, CDed by Chase and chaired by Aani!
—————————————
The annual Two Sessions Meeting sets China’s political agenda for the upcoming year. The meeting is called the Two Sessions because it involves two bodies, the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). The latter involves not just politicians, but movie stars, business leaders, activists, and athletes.
In this committee, delegates will participate in the CPPCC from 2018-2022. Delegates will deal with topics ranging from Trade War to Covid to Tech Regulation. Delegates will send proposals to the National People’s Congress to be adopted as policy. As delegates push for their preferred policies, they should be careful as one does not want to offend the CCP or its leader Xi Jinping.

Next up for our committee spotlights, we have the Enron Board of Directors, CDed by Arlenny and chaired by Kenny!
—————————————
Success. Innovation. Debt. Fraud. Enron grew to be one of America’s top 10 largest companies, establishing an international presence. However, in a span of a few months, it had no choice but to file for bankruptcy. Behind closed doors, Enron drowned in debt after years of mismanagement, and critics blamed the Board of Directors for their inappropriate financing decisions. It is 2000, and you, the Board of Directors, have to decide your next steps that determine the fate of Enron. How will you achieve this? You will have to consider your political and personal ties, who you can still trust, and whether you, as a company, will further deceive the public.

CIAC is approaching in less than a month, and we can’t wait! To get everyone excited, we will be showcasing our exciting committees over the next few weeks. Today, learn more about the UEFA Executive Committee, crisis directed by Dani and chaired by Akshika!
—————————————
It is April 2021. The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) faces the greatest threat to its regulation of football in Europe: the European Super League. Florentino Perez, President of Real Madrid, announces a breakaway league of 12 of Europe’s richest soccer clubs, threatening to upend the structure of European football in place for over 30 years and concentrate the money of European football in the hands of few. The UEFA Executive Committee has been assembled to deal with this threat. In this committee, you will have to balance the interests of the national football association you represent and the integrity of football as a whole. You will have to decide how to stop the rise of the Super League, if these renegade football clubs should be punished, and how to prevent such an event in the future by addressing the root causes of this breakaway, which include the disparity in TV revenue between football clubs and nations, as well as the rise of state-backed teams, while keeping the big clubs content. Viewed by hundreds of millions, the fate of the beautiful game rests in your hands.
