The CIAC XI Secretariat is excited to announce that we will be hosting an In-House Conference for members of CIAS from October 24th-25th!

08/25/2020

Dear delegates and staffers,

Today we made the difficult decision to cancel CIAC XI. While our team has spent the past months looking for a way we could move forward with the conference, we don’t believe that now is the right time. Despite the fact that Cornell will be attempting to have an in-person semester there have been significant updates to our code of conduct that have made hosting large scale gatherings, such as CIAC, impossible. After much deliberation, the CIAC XI Secretariat has determined that an online conference would not meet our standards for excellence, and would be an unnecessary stress on our staff due to the proximity of the event to Cornell’s new “semi-final” period. Despite this setback, the CIAC Secretariat is already working hard to make CIAC XII the best conference that we have ever hosted. We'd like to thank you for your continued support of our conference, and your patience in this unprecedented time.

Wishing you good health,
Alexis Knoebel, Secretary-General
Ben Inbar, Director-General

Do you want to be the very best like no one ever was? Then this is the committee for you! This week, we’re spotlighting the Pokémon committee, crisis directed by Brendan and chaired by Kelly.
—————
Deep within a secret compound in the Kanto region, Team Rocket scientists genetically engineer a new, dangerously powerful and intelligent Pokemon to assist them in achieving world domination. Despite their best attempts at domesticating this mysterious "Mewtwo", the pokemon has proven to have a mind of its own. After violently escaping from its captivity and destroying the Team Rocket laboratory, Mewtwo has disappeared without a trace. Delegates will work together as top trainers and gym leaders in a race against time to hunt down and catch the missing Pokemon, battling Team Rocket along the way, before it's too late.

This week, we’re highlighting the Macron Cabinet committee, crisis directed by Avery and chaired by Isabella!
—————
In 2017, Emmanuel Macron and his newly formed En Marche party were handed an electoral mandate in the presidential and parliamentary elections. However, promising big structural change is difficult to deliver when working against the establishment of both the left and the right. Be prepared to fend off radicalized labor unions, the far-right, and establishment elites as you attempt to bring France to the forefront of 21st century Europe. Join the Second Philippe Government as a Cabinet member and help President Macron deliver his reforms to the French People.

With 177 days until CIAC XI, it’s time to start our committee spotlights! First up, we have Lincoln’s War Cabinet, crisis directed by Sadman and chaired by Sarah!
—————
It’s April 12, 1861, and the Confederate militia has just bombarded Union soldiers at Fort Sumter, South Carolina. This committee will follow the newly elected President Lincoln and his cabinet in their response to the Confederate States of America. Delegates will decide how to engage with the seceding states, be it through military force or diplomacy, and unite the nation once again!

Thanks to all our delegates and staff for an amazing weekend!

08/09/2018

Next up is the first of our two specialized committees, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)!

If you thought that drug cartels were a relic of the 90s--think again. Mexican drug cartels have run amok and are fighting each other for control over vast sections of the US-Mexico border. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, terror threats and illegal immigration have opened up Europe to a new breed of crime and left them lost on how to fight it. It's a new world for drugs and crime and delegates will need to navigate a whole host of land mines if they want to make this world a safer place.
