🏙️ Building a digital twin for a healthier, more sustainable city!
Cornell Systems Engineering researchers Oliver Gao, Xinlai Liu, and Yishuo Jiang are helping advance a new approach to understanding urban air quality through a Sustainable Urban Digital Twin. 🌎💻
Using Manhattan as a test case, the team developed a virtual framework that integrates real-world environmental data with machine learning and Bayesian modeling to monitor carbon dioxide levels, identify potential emission hotspots, and visualize changing conditions across the city.
🔬 The research represents an early step toward urban intelligence systems that could one day help planners and policymakers evaluate interventions and make data-driven decisions for healthier, more sustainable, and more resilient communities.
