Last Saturday, March 15th, young learners and their families gathered at Tompkins County Public Library for the first of three Science Fair Workshops hosted by The Steminist Movement outreach committee! During the 3-hour event, kids engaged in a range of activities: from learning about meteorology by making clouds in a jar, experimenting with sound waves, making DNA helices with candy, and creating symmetrical artwork inspired by patterns in nature to mimicking animal grouping behaviors and building earthquake-proof buildings in teams, young learners gained hands-on experience in many STEM topics! The next two workshops will be hosted at TCPL on April 26th and May 3rd from 1-4pm and will feature new STEM activities! Registration is required, so be sure to sign up https://steministmovement.wixsite.com/cornell/event-details/steminist-science-fair-2025-04-26-13-00 Funded in part through a grant from the Community Partnership Funding Board, a program of the Einhorn Center for Community Engagement.

Recently, the Outreach committee spent the day at Boynton Middle Schoolโs Celebration Day event teaching STEM concepts to 7th and 8th grade students! From painting with plant pigments, making elephant toothpaste, and watching colorful chemical reactions to constructing Newton disks and functioning circuits, students had the opportunity to learn about plant science, chemistry, food science, physics, and electrical engineering. Thank you, Boynton Middle School, for this wonderful opportunity to teach and learn!
