A bit more about Randy O.:
To those who knew Randy, he was more than a beloved Peacock Middle School staff member. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, colleague, coach, mentor, and friend who made everyone around him feel seen and valued.
"When I talk about Randy, I always start with, 'He was just the nicest and best guy.' He was kind-hearted, giving, and always present. When you talked to Randy, you knew he was listening." — Dr. Heidi Weeks, Superintendent
Randy found his calling at Peacock Middle School, where, as his family shared, "it never felt like work." He loved the students, cherished his coworkers, and believed he could make a difference every day.
His family remembers him as someone who was "supportive, encouraging, and fair," always finding ways to lift others up—whether it was surprising a student with their favorite treat, encouraging a young athlete, or simply taking the time to listen.
"Everyone loved Mr. O. The kids, the staff—everyone," Dr. Weeks recalled. "He would love knowing we're coming together, laughing, having a great time, and giving back to District 10 students."
Today, Randy's legacy continues through the Randy O. Legacy Poker Fundraiser. Every ticket purchased helps support District 10 students while honoring a man who dedicated so much of his life to them.
As Randy's family shared:
"He would be thrilled to know that his legacy will live on and that his family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues continue to support what was so meaningful to him."
